I'm 18. I'm really curious about this, as I'd like to marry and have a committed relationship somtime in the future. I've heard quotes like...

"Marriage is the best way to ruin a beautiful relationship"

"Marriage is a grounds for divorce"

"One should always be in love - that's why one should never get married"

What's more, I hear so many middle-aged married men complaining about their wives and their lack of freedom. But I've always thought that marriage would be ideal, a perfect bond that should last for life.

As far as I can remember, 2/3 families divorce. How **** is that? All opinions and responses appreciated.

I am 30 and my wedding day was the greatest day of my life. Life can be difficult and you need to be able to trust the person you are with. You need to be able to depend on them and they on you. You need to be able to tolerate them at their worst and praise them at their best. Both me and my wifes parents are still maried which is rare in northern ca. For us it is very important and has been a great thing in our life.

Matthew,
I will answer and you will get the traditional Christian perspective. One man, one woman, for life. No ifs ands or buts. I married and moved away from my husband's relatives. We moved away from mine too. Now we are 39 years wed.

The only basis upon which to wed is that this is FOREVER. o ifs ands or buts. Commitment for all days. Every problem MUST be worked out. No "I am just incompatible with this person!" RUBBISH I answer. If my h. and I can get along for 39 years, SO CAN anyone. Neither of us is easy to live with. Nor are you. Or you. . .see what i ,mean.

You do not even have to be in love at the beginning. The love (which is not only a feeling bug and action) will come along if you are willing.

Let me know what happens. Never have sex out of wedlock, either.

Pray a lot.
