Writing a bad check is considered fraud & is punishable by law.
The situation could be redeemed with a phone call or a visit to the dealer ( to make good on the check) BEFORE they file charges.
Otherwise the check writer is in BIG trouble!

In the last 2 years, i had two people bounce checks, it's very rare. The dealer will try and resolve this nicely, without court or repo's involved. But, nice will only go so far. When you bounce a check, you are not only a loser screwing someone, but worse, you are a true criminal according to law. You could be in a lot of trouble if you do something stupid like that.

Only if you knew you had no money to cover it when it was written. If it was a miscalculation or a deposit didn't get credited properly, you would only be responsible to pay the overdraft charges. If it was written with intent to defraud, you will have legal problems.
