Theres no need for the flour. The coating will be pasty. I make wonderful french toast. This is my recipe:

Servings for two
6 slices of thick cut cinnamon raisin bread

egg mixture
4 large eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 cup dark brown sugar

Heat a skillet on med-high with butter.
Beat all ingreds together, dip bread in and get it really wet all the way through with the egg mixture.
Add to hot skillet and brown on both sides. Serve with real maple syrup and your fav fresh fruit.

Here's the basic, old-fashioned way....mmmm good!

Beat the following together: 2 or 3 eggs, about 1/2 cup of milk, a 1/2 cup of sugar, a pinch of salt and cinnamon and maybe a pinch of nutmeg and a splash of vanilla extract. All measurements are approximate, but resist the temptation to add more milk! Keep it rather eggy. Put this mixture in a shallow bowl and heat any kind of skillet you have with a large flat surface. I use lots of BUTTER to grease the pan, then you don't have to put butter on top when you eat it. Heat until the butter just begins to sizzle.

Dip your bread (white or anything else if you're adventurous) into the egg mixture. Add as many slices as will fit the frying pan. Brown until golden, then flip and brown the other side. Lower your gas if it browns too quickly. If you want a nice crusty surface, sprinkly it with some sugar when you put it in the frying pan, but this will get messy and stickly after a while.

Serve with syrup, fruit or whatever. Enjoy!

well your version is okay you don't really need to put flour because of the bread. no need of sugar it'll only weigh it down (unless u want it to be very sweet) and you will use syrup or honey when u are done. this is how i do it:
take some bread and dip it in a bowl with eggs and milk. Then i take a pan nd put a little bit of olive oil in it.
Then I put the bread (with the milk and egg) on the pan nd wait till one side is cooked enough to flip it for the other side. If u want u can add Cinnamon for taste. ;]
This would go great wit fruit on top of the french toast when u are done.

This is a French toast recipe with eggs and bread. Ingredients: 4 eggs 1 teaspoon sugar, optional 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup milk 10 to 12 slices white bread butter maple syrup or other syrup Preparation: Break eggs into a wide, shallow bowl or pie plate; beat lightly with a fork. Stir in sugar, salt, and milk. Over medium-low heat, heat griddle or skillet coated with a thin layer of butter or margarine. Place the bread slices, one at a time, into the bowl or plate, letting slices soak up egg mixture for a few seconds, then carefully turn to coat the other side. Soak/coat only as many slices as you will be cooking at one time. Transfer bread slices to griddle or skillet, heating slowly until bottom is golden brown. Turn and brown the other side. Serve French toast hot with butter and syrup. Recipe for French toast serves 4.

Here is a simple way i have made it for over 20yrs now

2 eggs
1/2 cup milk (i use a tad less)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
*dash of nutmeg
1 tablespoon butter

Beat eggs lightly. Stir in milk, cinnamon, and nutmeg
Melt butter in a skillet over low heat
.
Increase the heat to medium

Dip each slice of bread into egg/milk mixture and place into pan...

French's Toast

6 eggs
6 Tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. salt
pepper to taste
several drops vanilla
12 slices white bread, with crusts
butter for cooking

In a mixing bowl combine the eggs, milk, salt, pepper and vanilla with 3 Tbsp. water and beat lightly. Dip the bread slices into this mixture, one at a time, making sure both sides are well coated. Let the excess drip off.

In a heavy skillet with an generous amount of very hot melted butter brown the toast well on both sides. Serve hot with maple syrup, honey, sugar, jam or dessert sauces. (Serves 6

This is Rachael Ray's recipe for French toast.

2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved in a splash of water
1 cup whole milk
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
8 slices stale white bread or 6 slices thick cut stale bread
Butter, for griddle pan
Warm maple syrup, powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar and/or fresh berries for topping
Three Berry Compote, recipe follows

Preheat nonstick griddle or skillet over medium heat. Beat eggs very well, add sugar and beat again. Add cornstarch in water and beat that in, then add milk and nutmeg. Coat bread thoroughly in egg-milk mixture. Lightly butter hot pan with butter nested in paper towels. Add bread to the pan and cook slowly, 3 or 4 minutes on each side, 2 to 3 slices at a time. Serve hot with your favorite toppings or Three Berry Compote.

When I make my French Toast, I crack an egg in a flat bowl, add the milk and cinnamon, stir well, then drop my bread down in the mix, turn it over and do the other side. I then put it on a hot griddle or skillet that has either been sprayed or has a little butter in it. I cook it until it's golden brown on the one side, turn it over and cook until golden brown on the other side. I then put it in the oven on warm while I cook the rest of them. I then cut them in half, corner-to-corner to form a triangle, layer them on the plate with them overlapping just a bit, sprinkle them with powdered sugar and serve with butter and syrup. I don't know about your flour. I don't see how it will help you.

It will be a matter of timing and temperature.

My way

French Toast.

2-3 size 6 (46 g) eggs
1/3 cup Milk
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon vanilla
1 table spoon sugar
1-2 tablespoons oil or butter
4 slices toast bread.
Beat eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla and sugar together until well blended.
Heat oil in fry pan until hot.
Dip slices of bread in egg mix, both sides.
Do not soak the bread.
Cook on both sides 2-3 minutes until golden brown.

I mix the egg and cinnamon together first because I find it hard to mix in any other way, then I add the sugar, and finally the milk. I cook mine on a griddle on top of the stove, I've actually never heard of cooking french toast in the oven....I cook it on a medium heat, but you need to watch it and make sure it doesn't burn! After it's done, I put butter on it with some powdered sugar...mmm Enjoy!!
