You will find all of your answers by reading what Jesus said or did. We as Christians are to model our lives after him. Your job is not to convince a skeptic that Jesus’ miracles really happened. Surely some in the crowds were somewhat skeptical, but came seeking him. You have to accept the fact that some will never believe. There are some proven facts that you can tell your skeptic friends. One is that Jesus did walk on this earth. There has been some scientific evidence that there was an un-explainable solar eclipse recorded during the time that Jesus was crucified. All of Jesus’ disciples were killed preaching his word. Some would question whether or not that they would do this for a fake. But bottom line, you convince them by your life, how you treat them, how you respond to life’s problems and that is really all that you can do. He will do the rest. To my atheist friend, I am sorry someone told you that you will go to Hell. Even though that is what we believe, it should never be told to you as an or else statement. To my atheist friend who says go prove it, you are waiting. We need not to prove him. He will prove himself. I was not completely sure until after I was saved. Living the life has shown me miracles that are my own, not something I have read about.

You stated:
If we want to defend the authoritative claims and miraculous deeds of Jesus when talking with a skeptic, h?
If we want to defend the authoritative claims and miraculous deeds of Jesus when talking with a skeptic, how should we proceed?
I am a Christian myself and I don't like arguing the bible. It doesn't make any sense to me because people are going to believe what they want to believe the bible says that the word will be preached to all nations and then the end shall come. Do you know how many people are still going to be lost? Yes it is up to us to tell people about the Lord but there is a way to do it. If you badger people it will only push them away. The best thing you can do is pray for them and hope that they wake up to the truth because people actually do have the right to believe what they want. Everyone doesn't believe in the Almighty God that we serve.
Also the bible says avoid foolish jesting or questions. You don't suppose to argue over the bible. A lot of people want to have itching ears anyway and would whether believe a lie instead of the truth, but trying to pick together arguments to defend the bible is ridiculous you need to be trying to use that energy to touch someone who wants to hear you. Honestly we have enough saints ministering to those who have no mind to want to be saved, you have to leave them alone and focus on the ones who do. You will know the one's who do because they will give you the time of day. Those who don't will not answer you and they will take what you are saying as stupid talk.
It is your responsibility to be the light and never JUDGE! Just because you are saved doesn't mean that you will always be. I just want you and all the people who write to think about this:
There are a bus load of souls thousands, upon thousands that are sent to HELL everyday. Why are we wasting or time on people that don't care about there soul? It's time to awaken out of sleep and help those who are in the hospitals that want to hear. You will get an unction from God and he will tell you what to say at that the acceptable time when you are speaking, but until then forget about trying to put together defenses.

You'd have to find some historical evidence that is independent of the Bible or Church copyists.
A lot of the non-Biblical sources that are often cited show the same problems we find with the Pastoral Epistles of Paul. They use vocabulary or otherwise state things in ways inconsistent with the life and times of the original authors.

Why defend? Unless a "skeptic" is specifically asking you to share your beliefs - in which case, you would simply be explaining to someone what you believe and why. But if you're talking about defending your position to someone because they don't hold the same beliefs as you do, and you feel you are right and they are wrong, well then don't bother.

We walk by faith not by sight. Jesus said those who come to him must believe. Look at the way the world is designed. From the air to the water to the trees to the climates and everything else and then tell me that it all came about by accident. Look at how the human body is so intricately designed and tell me that we evolved from some animal.
Mankind is not evolving up the evolutionary chain we are devolving back into sinful creatures. We are not getting better and better, We are getting worse and worse.

Hon, Jesus doesn`t need us to prove him. He doesn`t need us to defend him.. All you need to do it tell them of the love and let God handle the rest.. He draws to him those who sincerely want to be his.. He will take it from there. You are kinda like a gardener, You plant the seeds... Leave the driving to God.. And, Keep a chin up. Sometimes it gets ugly out here..... {:-) You are not alone..
Right on Billy B.... You have said it in a nutshell...

First, get actual evidence that any of the miraculous deeds happened. Go ahead, go find some historical evidence. I'll wait here while you get that.

We really don't need to defend Jesus or His claims, He can do that Himself. Just preach and teach Christ, He has the power to make those believe whom He chooses to.

You could say, "I believe because the eyewitness testimony of Jesus life, ministry and miracles recorded in the gospels is convincing to me. Read them for yourself and see if they're convincing to you."
