proof is inextricable evidence that something is correct or true.
And it is questioned because viewpoints always clash with others and people find it hard to give up their beliefs.

Proof could be irrefutable evidence, or a line of reasoning that has no valid counter-arguments. It's something that would be very convincing to anybody who considered the issue in an open-minded and rational manner.
Most of the time, claims are questioned because they *aren't* proven. Either that or the so-called "proof" is really quite poor and doesn't hold up to counter-arguments.
If something can truly be proven, then it will hold up under any questions posed against it.

We as human beings judge and make assumptions based on what we see, hear, feel, and judge to be valid. It's what marks us as intelligent. If you are having trouble finding your spiritual side because you feel there's a lack of proof or faith, you're probably not studying the faith that would best suit you. Try to take some time away, and remember - faith, if and when it comes, comes naturally. It's not a forced act.

The Bible says that the Jews look for a sign. The last time Jesus was here they rejected him although he gave them plenty of signs to show that he was the Messiah that had been promised for ages.
Jesus then told them that there would be no sign given but the sign of Jonah. That just as Jonah was 3 days in the belly of a whale. So to would the Son of Man be 3 days in the belly of the Earth but after that he would come forth. HE DID !!!
