I am a church goer and I don't think that church can help you from going off the deep end because every church is different. You need to sit down and write down or think about actually what problems you are having that is causing you to feel that you are fit to go crazy.
I do believe that having a personal relationship with God is vital to life and having all the problems in life without his help is going to make you feel like you are falling. But you can search and search what you need to do is pray. Ask the Lord to help you and don't forget to repent. Church is a place of fellowship where you can go to the pastor and the rest of the flock in the church and feel at ease, but sometimes you might not be in a church like this.
You have to learn to help yourself because the pastor and flock can't be there for you always. Just pray and everything will be alright. Seek Godly counsel.
Also I am not saying don't go to church because the bible does say fail not to assemble yourselves together in the household of faith; I am just saying that you can't be telling folks your business because some church folks are worse then the world. You just got to ask God for wisdom and knowledge and spiritually discernment, if you are not saved it's up to you to work that portion out. I am not one to smack Jesus on everyone but I do have an unction to do it.

They seem to think so. As a completely church free individual, I can assure you that while there are going to be 15 Jesus Freaks going to post here, you need to think seriously about your problems. Think about what's happening to you in your life right now. Do you really feel like you're mentally and emotionally prepared to handle the large commitment that is a relationship with God? The Christian God is popular because he has three sexy things going for him - forgiveness, heaven, and a large fan base. Before you jump in and do the holy hustle, assess what activities you get enjoyment out of and try to build some good friendships first. Try to remember that staying active and making friends is a good way to feel sane, healthy, and well-balanced.

Dear Friend,
No church can save you from anything. Only Jesus...saves.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6
Only a real "personal" relationship with the living person of Jesus Christ can save any of us. He took our place on the Cross at Calvary for sinners like us.
You can go to church all you want and it won't change you. You can go to all the Mac Donald's you want and it doesn't change you into a hamburger. Does that make sense?
Sincerely in Christ Jesus,
lostnsavd...

You can save yourself. Church could help because it provides people who will support you, but it is likely that they will request that you believe certain things in return. Maybe if you add more detail to your question we could give better help.

That's what therapists are trained to do. Clergy are not always trained in counselling, but some practice it anyway. People have been harmed by this, before. You'd have far better luck with a professional.

Only Jesus can save you. Only you can ask Him.
The church can provide fellowship with other believers, and group worship of God.
