When i was playing warhawk my system kept turning itself off, it happened about 5 times until i couldn't even turn it on anymore. When i flip the switch in the back the stand by light won't even turn on. I got it in august so I have warrenty. If I send it in how long will it take to come back?

My PS3 wasn't really crammed in a corner it was in a pretty open space. I think it was a power problem because my HD box crashed also.

You either had a low voltage issues or a surge hit both systems.
If you can plug the ps3 into a differnet outlet and try a hard reset...Check the manual for details on how to do it. OR
If it turns on without the hard reset then ---
Run system backup, then run restore in the settings menu, (you will loose your games saves if you don't back it up first but the ps3 will be 100% like brand new again.) or you can try to rerun the update. when you do, shut down the information bar in the top left hand corner.

What in the world! You are the first person that has said anything about their PS3 crashing. You must have had backed away in a corner and it didn't get the proper air flow or something.

When the PS3 gets too hot it will turn it's self off. It's in the Users Manual. You needed to let the PS3 cool off before you turned it back on again. Unlike the Xbox 360 if the PS3 ever over heats, it doesn't die, it just needs a rest.

The PS3 has a very low failure rate, and their shouldn't be any problems with it, but there is a very small percentage of failure rate (less than 1%). I've had my 60GB PS3 for almost a year and I've had no problems at all.

If you send it in, I have no idea how long it will take to get it back because I haven't sent mine in for anything and I doubt that any PS3 owner has had to send their PS3 in because it's so reliable.

Depends on where you live and exactly whats wrong with it.

Being a relatively new system, its going to have some glitches to it. I'd say send it in and you should have it before the middle of January.
