Parvo is one of the serious, and often fatal contagious diseases that puppies can catch. Yes, their recommended vaccinations do include the Parvo vaccination, and most puppies need 3 sets of these shots, followed by a Rabies shot. Other diseases that threaten young, unvaccinated pups include Distemper, Leptospirosis, Corona Virus and more. Find out about the symptoms and treatment for Parvo and many other serious illnesses here http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/dog-illnesses.html

Some breeds (such as Rottweilers and Pitbulls) are especially prone to catching Parvo, and require 4 vaccinations instead of 3. You can find out everything you need to know about puppy vaccinations here http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/puppy-shots.html

Make sure that you find out what vaccinations your puppy has already had when you purchase him. And as soon as you get him home, make an appointment for your veterinarian to give him a thorough check up and schedule the rest of his shots.

You need to also be aware that one (or even two) sets of vaccinations do not guarantee immunity, so it's important to make sure your puppy isn't around other unvaccinated dogs or puppies, or in areas where they may have been, until he's completed the 3 (or 4) sets of shots.

Best of luck with your new pup!

Parvo is something any new puppy owner should be warry of.
If you are getting the pup froma breeder it shoudl have at least one booster shot and a pup need a total of 3 booster shots to be pretty much fully protected.
A lot of vets will say not to let you pup out in public or out for walks to help prevent parvo.
If the pup hasn't had any shots I would bring directly to the vets before even bringing home.
good luck

Make sure you take your pet in for a well-puppy exam at the vet as soon as you get him. The vet can keep him up-to-date on all the vaccinations he needs to keep him from getting sick. Parvo, rabies, caronavirus, and kennel cough are all disease to be concerned about

Also, until your puppy is fully vaccinated (about 16 weeks old), avoid exposing him to places where he could contract the virus- dog parks, public parks, kennels.

Take him to the vet and get their shots. The vet will know which shots to give them. You should be very afraid of parvo, if you want your puppy to live.

first of all make sure that the pup has had all of it's vaccinations also talk to the owner of the mother dog and see how the rest of the litter is if nothing else you may want to just drop by for an unexpected visit to see how the puppies are doing before you get your puppy.

When I got my puppy in Aug she had the first of three shots for Parvo (its a combo shot sort of like the one for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella).... as long as they are up to date on their shots you should be fine!

Good Luck!!
