I really have to weigh the ups and downs on this one, but I guess I'd have to say overall that I oppose it >=[

That's pretty complicated. We issue 9 million visas a year to people from all over the country,. When the visas expire over 3 million of them do not honor the visa and hide out in the country and this has been going on for years.

Next you got the folks coming up from the south. They are from all over, but the vast majority are from South America. Now many are from Mexico. Deal is that Mexicans have been coming to America since she was born. There was never a problem until this last decade.

clinton increased immiration (legal) up to 2.5 million a year, so over his 8 year term, it meant over 20 million new Americans, which doesn't include all the rest.

Now on the southern border, according to government stats, there are about 300,000 a month coming in. Now obviously they have to come through Mexico and the good thing is that Mexico has very strict immigration laws. So they act as a checking station for ones comiing here from South America and all over.

My buddy has a Brazlian wife, now American, but she has friends that fly into Mexico city, then are take, for $3,000 to the US border and turned over to the Border Patrol, then they are taken to a detention center and released the next day and told to come back in a month, but go to St. Loius and blend in the community up there. The $3,000 is to insure they are protected and not rbbed or raped or worse. The persons bringing them don't go with them to the BP, they just point them out and wait and then leave.

The figures show that the BP caught over 800,000 in 2005 and of this number 1 in 7 are from a "terror sponsoring" nation. They also say that for each on ethey caught, five get by. So this is disturbing in the fact that some of those people may want to harm the country. Then you got the ones in the criminal justice system and etc.

now for centuries people came and got jobs and became Americans. Now there is everybody coming. What's going on now is about the same thing except the employers can pay more and pay less. By this I mean say you pay someone $10 an hour, then you have to worry about FICA, unemplyment insurance, health care and workers compensation. Even if the employee is a 1009, straight cash employee the employers still has responsibilities. So that $10 may really cost$17.

Now hire an "illegal" or anyone and just pay cash and pay them $10 or even $8 you save a bunch of money. So instead of the person paying taxes, getting in the American system and being protected they are paid cash and told to take care of everything else.

Now say someone is hurt, without insurance they are at the mercy of the medical faility. If you have insurance the ins company has already made a deal with the medical place and will only pay a certain amount for a certain thing. Like a menu. Say a hernia operation costs a person walking off the street with no insuance $15,000, the insurance company may only pay $1,500. So when they go in they cannot pay and it overloads the medical place and the result is like 90 closed, from what i understand lately.

So really the people we have a history have not been doing anything they haven't done for centuries, it's just that everybody and their brother-in-law are coming here now. It's overloading the country.

If Clinton had left imigration alone, probably would not have hit us so hard, as Bush cut it in half to 1.25 million and now 1 million. Also the crime is not good and it really hits the minority Americans because a criminal will go where they can blend in, whether as an example say a Russian, columbian or what ever. It's sad as Sheriff Flores of Webb County Texas has over 60-70 people missing in Laredo and most are minortiy.

Then you got the drugs, which in themselves not only destroy the country, but cause a ton of crime.

So you got probably up to 60 million folks here. Unfortunately the government throws out 12-15 million, but on here folks hae posted links that show the number at 38 million. But think aobut it, if only 2 million visa jumpers per year during Clinton and Bush plus the 3 million is 45 miilion, then the 3-4 million on the southern border could be another 45 million. then the northern border is not protected at all. Then hasd an elderly man the other day and filmed him and he stoped at a border phone to call and tell them he was coming in, I wouldn't think a bad person would do that.

Anyway that's the problem and quite honestly I cannot understand this administration, nor Clintons. Now the democrats are saying they will make eeryone an "instant" American and are for it, which is nutty as they will never be able to do that. Then if you watched McCain the other night he stated the plan they had was a good deal for everyone. Unfortunately they didn't advertise it, which was weird. But I think it was like normal immigrants where you come in work leagal and in five years or so become an American.

Also with the cry of amnesty zillion from all over are flocking in hoping they can get it as the ones under Reagan. By the way the number that became American was 3 times as many as they (the government) had estimated. So that's the way I see it. The numbers come from a new book which is well reseached and documented. Take care.

I can't believe the answers you people are giving!! I personally am for immigration. Illegal or legal. I think everyone should have the right to make a good life for themselves and their family. It's not their fault they were born in another country. Did you choose where you were born? There's a big misconception out there about illegals. Do you think they want to be illegal? A lot of them would be legal if the immigration system would allow them to be. It's not as easy as everyone thinks. As a matter of fact, it's down right impossible.

Well, it's illegal, and I don't find the laws criminalizing it to be worthy of civil disobedience.

So I'm against it.
