I met someone a few years ago online dating... Before we met lots of emails, seemed to be going well -- when we met for the first time he told me after that he knew I was not destined to be a long term relationship... We had a short relationship & a 3 year close friendship... the sex ended, but the friendship grew into love on both our parts - but he remained at the end of it ( after he deserted me when times got tough) saying... I toldyou from the beginning that we were not destined for a long term relationship.

I guess trust, respect, caring, and all of those things don't count as a relationship? He had sexual problems - he told me later - He is with someone now for 1 yr... I remained his trusted friend &would never hurt him.. I trusted him with my heart and always beleived he would never hurt me ... I was wrong to think we would work out all the sex stuff- because the rest was so strong?
Can it be that once someone has made up there mind before know you that is it? Please help!

You need to move on and do not waste another minute of your valuable life concerned with what could have been. You are worth a lot more than some guy who from the get go told you it would never work. Go find someone who is worth it.

Darling, it sounds more like you've been used by this man. No matter how much he told you that he trusted you and all that stuff he was just stringing you along. I know you'll be a bit hurt by this but that is exactly how I see it He had no intention of committing to you, EVER!
But life still goes on and you'll have to move on as well. Yeah this guy has hurt you (emotionally) but their are plenty of good men out there just waiting for a lovely caring person like you to show up. Get out there and start enjoying the fun that goes with dating and courtship again, try not to think about the past and just get on with your future.

I'm confused. You said that BEFORE you met, things were going great, but AFTER you met he suddenly said that this was not going to be a long term relationship.
Am I Right?
Well then, your question really isn't correct, is it?
You are asking, "how can a man say that he knows you are not the right person BEFORE meeting you?"
According to the story that you laid out for us, he didn't tell you that he wasn't interested in a long term thing until AFTER he had actually met you. Right?
So it just must mean that once he met you, he wasn't as attracted to you as he thought he was going to be.

I'm sure that you are a lovely person.
Forget this loser and find someone that will appreciate you.

Men can make up their mind that this is the way they want it and i don't know if a woman could be this way or not. I know someone in my town told me about a guy that hooks up with these women and tells them it'll be for 2 years and that's it and when the 2 years is up he leaves. The man you trusted and loved was truthful with you, but i know you believed in longer and for that i feel bad for you. One thing you have to listen to a man when he tells you something that is usually the way it is. Good luck.
