I understand that this poor British teacher is now in hiding because a Sudanese mob is seeking to kill her. Her problems only seem to be escalating over such a small thing. Are these people totally insane?

Bethany yes they are.

Fundamentalist of any nature are that insane and you HAVE to take them serious for they are deadly serious. Where you and I see nothing harmful to others is so blasphemic that they will break their own moral laws and kill and say they are justified because it was blasphemy, but they forget they are not the ones that are suppose to Judge and convict!!!

I feel bad for her and her family.

You are also talking about a country that is extremely backward with hard liners mullah so powerful the government is afraid of them and a government who is trying to keep the peacekeepers for Darfur away. A wave or religious attacks against foreigners would do the trick.

According the the BBC news site:

"Some reports said protesters had called for her to be shot. Her lawyer said she was later moved for her own safety. "

"If I find her I will kill her, behead her myself" was one protester's translated comment.

I don't think I'll be visiting the Sudan any time soon.
No, I don't think they're insane. But I do think it's an alien mindset.
