My husband and I love whitewater rafting. We went on a weekend getaway up to the NC mountains. We went whitewater rafting on the French Broad River. We came back to our hotel and changed for dinner. We went to the Inn at Biltmore Estate which is really nice (check out links).
We had a great dinner, with wine from their vineyards and creme brulee. After dinner, he got down on one knee and proposed.
(He was going to do it in their wonderful gardens but it was raining outside)
Romantic is clearly the way to go. I mean she will tell this story 1,000 times. If you two love to ski, I think a ski lift is fabulous!

ski-lift huh? but if you proposed with a ring, was she affraid to take it out of the box?
My boyfriend asked me, not only at the top of a (small) green mountain in vermont, but halfway up a scaffolding at the top, we were to afraid to climb the whole way. then, sitting and looking around, he got on his knee and asked me out of nowhere!
I told him to hold on to the ring until we got to the bottom!

My fiance took me to a really fancy restaurant for our dating anniversary. He even bought me a dress to wear there. He did the whole down on one knee thing and the older couple sitting next to us told us about when they got engaged. Then we enjoyed brandy ice from the bar, even though we weren't of age at the time! lol

Ok, I am the feminine side of this. Now, you should pick a romantic spot and ask as graciously as you can, on your knees like in the olden days. Or, if you were on a ski lift, (which is good because there are no prying eyes) then try to make it as romantic or as nice as possible. And if she declines? Ask, ask again.

My fiance took me on a picnic in Yosemite National Park. After the picnic, he pretended to reach for his camera and instead pulled out the ring! It was lovely.

Not the way that I had planned. I was so nervous, even tho she wasnt my first wife, I knew that she was my one true love. I wanted everything to be perfect and I was so nervous that I just blurted out that I did not want to live with her anymore. After she quit crying, I told her that I didnt want her as a girlfriend, I wanted her as my wife. We have been married 9 years and have even experienced the death of a child which has brought us even closer
