are TV's @ walmart of lesser quality than at other stores?

Yes and no.

A given brand and model of TV will be of the same quality as TVs at other stores.

Wal-Mart often sells less expensive models of products that are of lower quality. This is reflected in their price relative to competing models.

Like at any store, you to some degree get what you pay for. Research the models that tempt you and you'll get better information as to quality.

Walmart has similar brands as other stores. Like sony, Philips, Polaroid, Samsung, RCA, Magnavox, and Sharp. They may be a little less expensive, but not much in most cases. They are of the same quality as TV's sold in other stores. I recommend name brands, go off brand and you get a crappy disposable tv.

Wal Mart just carries less variety

Now, when it comes to store brands you never know what you are getting

It could be a cheap company or it could be made by Sanyo

But wal mart has one of the best extended protection plans at the best price

For $20 to $100 you can generally get 3 years warranty on most sets

The plan will cost more for expensive HD sets but it covers everything except abuse

Seeing the way they treat some of their other products with complete lack of respect for the people who will be purchasing them, I don't think I would trust them with a $1000+ piece of equipment.

As for the products, they're the same as in other stores.

Walmart tends to have models that are not moving or have been or are going to be replaced by a newer model soon. It is not necessarily a indication of quality if you stick with name brands.

I have a Walmart Durabrand TV set and it works fine for me. I am not rough with my stuff. If you have little ones then I say you may wish to buy a better brand, I myself like the Durabrand TV set.
