Long definitely.
This way you aren't:
1) Excluded/isolated
2) Stared at by everyone
3) Just talking to your husband the entire time
Good luck and congrats!

Her is my thought and it was suggest to us by other couples and by our Rev, DJ, and Photographer.........Sweethearts table!
Why is because the day is going to be a whirl-wind and you aren't going to ge much down time! If you want to eat (which I do we are paying enough..lol). After you announced and toast are being said asked that they server you first, have you montage playing (if your having one) Eat and watch your guest admire the show! When you are done get up an mingle.....Most people will still be eating because they will have been to busy watch the montage........So you don't have to stay long at each table and still can catch every one while they are still sitting!!
Plus you bridal party has seen you enough that day and has been dealing with the wedding stress too! They need time to sit and relax as well and admire the day they worked so hard to make perfect for you! Parents and Grandparents will be busy talking about the ceremony and catching up with relatives (which they will mingle more) because guest wont feel as thought there interrupting the bridal party!
Plus you get wonderful pic because they will be no one around you!! Just my thought, I was sure either till I had seen it at a wedding and loved the idea! Plus it makes it easier on everyone!!
Best wishes and good luck to you! Just remember what ever you chose will be perfect for you!

We went with sweetheart....possibly a round if the weather is bad since space is more cramped inside our venue. But definately not a straight one sitting at the front of the room.
I always hated sitting at the long tables and being stared at like a goldfish in a bowl, plus I wanted my bridal party and such to be able to mingle while they ate as well.

I know that sweetheart tables are in kind of in vogue now, but I find them mildly rude. It's a party--the guests of honor should be celebrating WITH their guests, not off by themselves. It feels a little snobby to me. I'd go with a head table that includes the bridal party, too.

the head table for the wedding party traditionally is a long table with the entire wedding party sitting on one side, facing their guests.
i prefer the guests tables to be round, that way they can easily talk 'round the table and no one feels left out of the conversation.
also with a round table you need only one centerpiece, with a long table you tend to spend more on centerpieces as you need three to four to cover the entire table.
happy wedding!
