My 7.5 week old puppy, has what feels like fluid in her umbilical stump. Her whole "stump" is totally healed on the outside, but it protrudes out a little bit, and then there is the fluid or whatever is in there that bugs me. it just looks like an "outie" a little bump, where her cord used to be. I accidently pushed on it, and it went back inside her belly, which really freaked me out. Should I alert the vet about this, or is this not a big deal?

I didnt buy her, and I'm not a breeder. She was a rescue. She was just vet checked Monday, and there is no mention of a hernia in her Puppy Pack. I guess I will take her Monday, and find out. This isnt life threatening is it?

She has an umbilical hernia. Depending on the severity it may or may not require surgery. You'll need to ask the vet.

Edit: If you are the breeder, please make note of it in your breeding records as this is a common genetic midline fault created inutero... repeated issues of this sort or randomly breeding without monitoring parents/bloodlines can possibly lead to greater midline faults (cleft palate, larger hernias or even pups born with their intestines outside ). If you bought this pup, let the breeder know for her/his records and have it repaired when you spay her.

Edit x2. If this were my pup and she'd seen the vet on Monday I would wait to ask the vet on my next appointment for shots. Or, you can give the vet office a call and see what they think... sometimes there is something in the vet record about it.

It does sound like an umbiblical hernia.
Tehese aren't life threatining and most vets suggest removing it when she's spayed. They are often from congenital ( heriditary) it's best not to breed a dog with a umbiblical hernia as a good chance her pups willhave them ( I know you said you weren't a breede and you got her froma a rescue) I'm just stating what it si with umbiblical hernia.
You may just want to call the vet and speak to him/her this usually isn't anything and can be checked the next time she goes for a check up.
Continue to take good care of your pup and I'm happy you atleast try to find out what's going on instead of wiating and if worse could get worse.

Sounds like an umbilical hernia. Take her in to the vet and have her checked. Depending on how bad it is they will tell you what needs to be done if anything.

nicely for one i do no longer understand who you acquire carry of a 7 week previous pup as its unlawful to sell a pupy until they are 8 weeks previous..yet attempt taking her in a comfortable snug dogs mattress upstairs and putting it down next on your mattress so she has the reasurrance of being with somebody, idraly the breeder could desire to have given you a toy, blanket that has the fragrance of the mum on it for her to take along with her, that woule have calmed and comfortable her, you cant circulate away a pup to sleep in the laundry. It desires a suited dogs mattress, and in spite of you do no longer take her and placed her on your mattress at 7 weeks previous she wont have a clue the place she is and if she have been to fall off could desire to brake her legs. if your mattress room is upstairs then make certain your door is close and remains close on an identical time as she is in there because of the fact an identical applies to the stairs. i think of you could desire to have nevertheless extra thorughouly in the previous you acquire this pup ause for sure you arent prepared to renounce a nights sleep whilst its a youthful pup been taken remote from its mom for the 1st time. The breeder probable could desire to have additionally seperated her style her mom faster if she became into merchandising her because of the fact she has no information of any independance now. shes been taken from her mom TOO youthful and previous immediately onto an entire stranger. Disgusting in my view tbh. yet good success besides

Well, she's about the age where she gets her booster vaccines, so tell the vet about this, while you're there.
