we're being saved from oursleves, essentially. as a human race, we were born PURE but through sin we have killed ourselves. we cannot redeem ourselves on our own- our blood is now Satans. so Jesus died on the Cross for us (Pure and clean blood to pay for unclean blood) and in essence He died OUR deaths- what we were comdemned to. he gave us a chance to reach heaven. Satan will still try to kill us and our nature will attempt to kill us also. if we accept Him we can be saved.

You are being saved from an eternity in hell. When you accept Jesus as your savior, you are acknowledging that He died on the Cross as a sacrifice to pay for your sins. Then your sins are forgiven and you get to start a new life in Christ. You become a new creation and your past can not be held against you. I understand why some people are afraid to take that step. It's scary to think that life as you knew it is gone. Your entire outlook on life changes. You now have a family that you never had before, and a Father who Loves you like no one Earthly can.

To ask this question, I believe you are a Christian.

We are saved from the wrath of God, which comes upon all children of disobedience. In the time of Noah, the earth was pretty much going the way it is today. God was appalled. He wanted to destroy mankind. If not for Noah's fear of God nobody would have been spared. So he continued the purpose of Adam, kinda.

In order to be accepted before God, we had to live up to all that God wants. This is impossible for mankind to achieve. No matter how hard you try, you will displease God.

God then said what will I do with this creation, mankind whom I love, but they cannot be good like I want them. and my standards are high. and being God, I do not change. what I said, I mean. they have to be good.

Isaiah 59:16 (or thereabouts). God says, they will never be good, and Ill have to destroy them. So he came himself to help us. Jesus became good. God was so pleased that he made Him (Jesus) take charge of everything God made except of course, God is above Jesus.1Cor 15:27/28.

Then because of Jesus actions from birth to resurrection, God accepts us as rite like Jesus. But we have to acknowledge all Jesus did before we can claim that right standing. This is what the world fails to grasp. hence the question; WHAT AM I SAVED FROM, I SEE NO NEED IM IN NO TROUBLE.

The trick, if I may call it that, is...
it is the unseen spiritual being that needs all this and for which Christ went through all this for. Now as human beings, e see the flesh so much that we find it difficult to understand we are spirit. The main barrier is BELIEVING. If we could get past UNBELIF, we could hit a homerun. destroy unbelief, and all things fall into place.

Give it a go. if u are finding it difficult, tell God you'd love to believe, it just seems so strange. then read some bible. just read even as a story. Faith comes by reading...

I see a lot of crap answers, but we are actually being saved from our sin nature, which is what keeps us from God.

God made man to have a relationship with Him. Adam screwed up. When Adam screwed up, the nature of Adam changed. All the offspring of Adam began to drift away from God. The sin nature does that to people. Satan's contrary nature to God had a spiritual effect on humankind. We now have that same spiritual nature that Adam had. The counter to that nature is God's nature. God cared enough for some of us to respond to Him and then return to Him.

So that's why it is said in the New Testament that those who trust God - who are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ are new creations in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit dwells in us, and we are not like anything that has been on the Earth before. We are a New Creature. Part sinning humans, part divine nature of God.

So we are being saved from the sin nature that keeps us from God.

Your first question has been answered but let me answer the second one about what qualifies as sin? First, let me say, being human, yes, makes you sinner, because we are flawed. We have temptations that we give into, earthly desires. The meaning of sin is rebellion against God and His Word. The meaning of sin is dependent upon its origin. Because there was a man in history (Adam), who took fruit from a tree, that was given to him by a woman (Eve) who was tempted by a serpent, there was a rebellion, and therefore all humans are damned to Hell unless we accept Jesus' free gift. Please read all of what the above answerer had to say. He put into words better than I can.

Have a good weekend. God be with you and God Bless you.

The bible says:

For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
and
The Wages of Sin is death.

Because each of us as erred we cannot hope to attain to the Holiness of God without Help. Help came in the Form of God Jesus Christ, who laid down His life, to save us from the penalty of our sin. And we are all guilty, not one of us is clean.
On the day sin entered into the world through Man's action, a redeemer was promised, 2000 years ago He was delivered and today, if anyone accepts His work and His grace, by submitting to His Lordship.....you will be saved from the penalty of the sin we are all guilty of.

Actually its more of a being saved for something, such as an afterlife or participating in the Reign of God - also called redemption. It is the reversal of life, from sin and darkness toward righteousness and light.

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God

For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Rev. 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

rom 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

rom 10 :13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be SAVED.

9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be SAVED.

eph 2:8-9
8. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.

they believe that if we dont accept the savior and seek redemption that we will spend eternity of our afterlife in extreme pain and torment done by their god as a form of "punishment" for our lack of belief.

granted, this view has hundreds of holes in it...
