If you've only had it in for 3 weeks, it will heal up no problems. Keep using the mouthwash or whatever antiseptic you have been using for at least a week after you take it out, and you should be just fine. Remember, it is an open wound, so take care of it as it closes or infection is bound to happen!

The tongue is one of the fastest healing muscles in the body, I had mine done and as soon as I took it out about an hour later it was closed. If you have had it for three weeks with no infection and your ready to take it out, chances are you won't get infected.

It will heal since you have only had it for 3 weeks. I had mine in for 3 years and took it out for 2 and was able to put it back in with no pain. make sure you rinse your mouth out everytime you eat or drink anything for the next week. Use a water bottle and mixed 1/2 water and 1/2 mouth wash and if you smoke make sure to rinse after that as well and I would avoid frenching kissing for a week also to avoid the germs. and if it starts to hurt and swell up, see a doctor right away!!

Yes you can take it out and yes it will heal but you will still have a tiny scar on the tongue tissue. If you are worried about infection just keep washing your mouth out with Scope or Listerine for a few days after you take it out.

It will heal fine if you take it out. I dont think you should though, going through all that just to take it out. You should stick it out you might like it later when you can actually talk and eat normally. I had mine done years ago but i dont keep it in. I put it in once in a while for a day or so just so it wont close cause it hurt so damn much!

You can take it out, and as long as you clean the wound left over with antiseptic mouthwash several times a day it will heal normally and there will be no infection.

I had my tongue pierced and for 2 years it never afflicted me in any respect. yet then it fairly began to bother me so I took it out. I had it re-pierced recently besides the undeniable fact that it basically lasted 5 days till now I have been given bored to death with it and took it out lower back. i might like to have saved it nonetheless!

Yeah just take it out, and rinse your mouth out with salt water 2 or 3 times a day. ( Or more) A teaspoon of salt dissolved in a glass or cup of warm water. Should heal up fine.
