I was just thinking when they do surgery it seems to me that it would smell somewhat like puke or feces because of everything stored in your stomach. Is it true?

Yep. If it's emergency surgery, your digestive system may have malodorous contents (i.e., feces). How bad the smell is will depend on how far along in the intestines it is. However, surgeons are used to many things, bad smells among them.

If it's a scheduled surgery, you must be NPO (nothing by mouth) for several hours, so the amount of "stuff" in your system will be decreased. If it's a procedure such as a colonoscopy (looking at the colon with a scope), you will be given either laxatives or enemas to make sure that area is clean and can be visualized. You must also be NPO before surgery due to the risk of vomiting afterwards and aspirating the vomit (breathing it into your lungs).

no. Usually if they are doing bowel or bladder surgery they make you do a bowel clean out before hand.
