now it turns on but it overheats in like 30 mins and tha picture freezes

Run system backup, then run restore in the settings menu, (you will loose your games savesif you don't back it up first but the ps3 will be 100% like brand new again.) or you can try to rerun the update. when you do, shut down the information bar in the top left hand corner.

I have no idea. I've read the PS3's user manual and I didn't see anything about that in there. You need to email or call Sony to get help with it.

I think your console ain't a PS3, You must be talking about Xbox 360. Nah, just kidding, PS3 usually shuts off when it's overheated.

What did the manual tell you? If you can't find it there, then call Sony tech support for input. I don't know as I have never had this issue.
