The price of your cruise includes your cabin, ALL meals (except the specialty restaurants), all shows and entertainment, and use of all facilities on ship including the pools hot tubs, the gym, the basketball court, ping-pong tables, etc. If you want a massage you must pay for that and they are expensive, starting around $80. All food is free, including 24/7 free room service but if you go to a "speciality" restaurant, like French, Sushi, Italian, you must pay a fee ($10 to $20 per person each visit) to eat. But there will be so much free food that you will not need to pay for any.

After you pay your cruise fare the things that you will have to pay for are:

GRATUITIES: They will amount to about $10 per person in your cabin per day; about $70 each for the week. When you check in at the pier they will set up an on-board charge account for you to cover any and everything you may buy on ship. They will issue you a "cruise card" which will also serve as your room key and pass to get on and off the ship. At the end of the cruise they will add the gratuity to your tab and you can pay with a credit card or cash, your choice.

ALCOHOLIC DRINKS AND SOFT DRINKS: Coffee, tea, milk, juice, and lemonade and punch will be provided free but you must pay for drinks (alcoholic beverages) and they will add a 15% gratuity to each drink of soft drink order. But, YOU MUST BE AGE 21 OR OLDER TO BUY ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES.

PHOTOGRAPHS: Cruise lines will take plenty of photographs of you all over the ship, in the dining room, and as you exit the ship in ports. These will cost a lot, like $15 to $20 for most. Skip them and save yourself a lot of money. Take your own camera and have the other passengers photograph you on and off the ship.

TOURS/EXCURSIONS: When you get to each port you can get off and on the ship as many times as you wish; just be back 30 minutes before the ship is scheduled to leave the port (they will tell you in writing and on the PA system when the ship will sail). You must pay for tours and activities from the ship. These are listed on your cruise line web site and you can reserve them well before the cruise and pay for them also. You do not have to go on tours, you can just take a cab or bus to the beach or just walk around the port town (do like I do and look for an internet cafe)

SOUVENIRS: Anything you buy on ship from a gift shop or duty free shop goes on your on board account. Things that you buy on shore you pay cash or credit card for.

CASINO: If you plan to gamble on ship you will need cash for that. You have to be at least 18 to gamble.

OTHER: If you want/need to have your hair done, get a massage or wrap, or any services from the spa, you will have to pay for them. You can use the gym free but the spa stuff cost big bucks.

Ships now have internet cafe and some have WiFi but the there is a fee for internet access and it is very expensive (like about $50 to $60 an hour).

You cabin will likely have a minibar with soft drinks and munchies; you have to pay for them (but there is free room service 24/7). Your cabin will also have a TV with a channel or two of free movies and you can also order pay per view movies. The cabin TV will also likely have a sports channel and CNN, and maybe another free channel.

Each day of your cruise you will receive in your cabin a newsletter type flier that will list all of the activities for the day by time and location. So its your guide to when and where things are happening.

The formal nights on cruise ship are REQUESTED attire which means you can dress up if you want. Every evening you must wear sports casual when you go to the formal dining room; that's attire that you would see a person wearing in a business office like a bank. No jacket required, but slacks and a shirt with a collar; no jeans, T-shirts, tank tops, flip flops. On the formal night you can dress up in a suit or tux, or just stay sports casual. Also, if you do not want to eat formal, just go to the buffet that will also be open for dinner. You can go eat wherever you want.

Princess cruises are great, you will have a great time.
You can use the gym, the pool and the Jacuzzi anytime they are open (the pools usually get closed and emptied for cleaning at night).
Some of the Princess ships have movie theatres on them and the entrance is free. They have a different movie each day.
If you want a massage or spa treatment, there is a charge for these.
You will get a news letter delivered to your cabin each night and it will have all of the next days events listed. You can attend any or all of these, it's entirely your choice.
The formal dinners, require a certain amount of dressing up, but if you wish, you can eat at the buffet instead.
You can do your own thing at any of the stops, but if you are going with a school club, I would think that they may have some trips arranged for you.
If you go off on your own or with a group, make sure you are back on board on time, the ship won't wait for you.
Have a great time.

You have to pay for spa services, drinks, shore excursions, photos, etc. You can go off on your own when you're in port just make it back to the boat before it leaves. The formal dinners are great. You don't have to attend anything you don't want to attend - except the boarding safety class. There are events all day long some of them are good some - not so much. They usually have a couple of channels on the in-room tvs that show free movies - I'm not sure if they have PPV though.

I don't know about Princess specifically, but most food and some activities are included. Drinks (soda, alcohol, etc) are not included in the price. You do not have to attend dinner if you do not want to, and usually you can have room service delivered 24 hours. On some ships you are not required to dress up for dinner, though you can't wear shorts or swimwear. Spa services are usually not free, though sometimes you can use the sauna for free. There will probably be a pool and jacuzzi you can use, and many activities for your age group. Once you are off the ship you can do whatever you want, as long as you make it back to the ship by the time they tell you, or they will leave you behind. Check out cruisereviews.com for specific info on each ship.

Use of the gym is free. Sometimes there is a charge for the classes.

The movies outside (MUTS) is free. Some movies in the room are free, others are pay per view.

The jacuzzi and pool are free.

If you don't want to attend the formal dinners, you can eat at the buffet.

At each port you are free to do what you want. However, you are also responsible for making it back to the ship on time.

You and your friends will have a great time.

They charge to use the spa
the movies and shows and gym are free.
The pool and hot tubs are free.
Every day they put a schedule of events in the "mailbox" outside your room.
You dont have to attend thsoe formal dinners unless you choose to eat in the main dining room.
If you do then you have to dress formal for them . There are two.
And youre definitley able to go off on your own .
But you should be really careful.
Where are you going?
I went to the carribean two years ago on the star princess
Had a balcony room . I had a blast.
