Personally I think a lot of their teachings are very cool. I'm no expert, but I have had a few Buddhist friends.

The concept (if I don't misunderstand) of the falsity or illusion of emotions, including love, I find a bit pessimistic.

Buddhists? Future Christians

I don't judge people based on their religious affiliations (I like to know the individual not the belief system). I don't think anything of them except they just want to follow the teachings of the Buddha. I don't see anything wrong with that. I have a friend who is Buddhist and there are many great Buddhist teachings that help humanity.

I love them. I love Buddhism, too. Most Christians that I know are LDS (Mormons). I think the majority of them would be interested to know more about Buddhism, and get along well with Buddhists.

Buddhism contains many truths from God. When we accept all truth, we are blessed. Integrating Buddhist truths into my Christian beliefs has shed some meaningful light on concepts in Christianity that I didn't understand before (such as "let not thy right hand know what they left hand doeth" and "consider the lilies of the field... take no thought for what ye shall wear, etc..."

I'm Catholic so I have a mixed attitude. I would agree with Thomas Merton that at the level of monasticism with it's emphasis of the ascetic life and personal communion with the essence of God or godhead there are striking paralells, but in terms of actual practice, most Buddhists engage in a very debased version of what you would encounter at an American Zen center. I've been to Buddhist countries and the peasants do in fact worship Siddhartha in the form of an idol statue.

Buddhists rock

I think they're the most peaceful people around. I think Christians are pretty peaceful also, but I don't think a Buddhist nation has ever been in a war, or anything.

Besides, I never hear of radical Buddhists like I hear of radical Christians and radical Muslims. Why is that?

But I will admit I don't know much about the religion. I read "Siddhartha", but that's about it

You sound like a Jesuit, did you circulate to Loyola or Marquette or Georgetown? you would be able to word that the Jesuits have had slightly a run-in with the Pope over this count. To over simplify the Jesuits mentioned that because neither Obama nor McCain thoroughly trust Catholic coaching (Obama is professional abortion and McCain is professional conflict and professional dying penalty) then Catholics are left with a capture 22 concern. Can a Catholic vote in good extensive wide awake to end the conflict in Iraq and for abortion? Can a Catholic vote in good extensive wide awake for the conflict and against abortion? The Jesuits say those are valid subjects for debate. The Pope, and fairly some the Catholic hierarchy, says that the abortion concern trumps all others. The Jesuits counter that the Pope could desire to then concern an infallible coaching. Absent an infallible coaching it is an open question. As you may think of, that argument did no longer circulate over nicely together with his Holiness. The Jesuit-run information magazine usa now has a sparkling editor in chief. advert Maiorem Dei Gloriam
