On the news recently, its common knowledge now that a woman was arrested for calling a teddy Mohammed. Now to me - this is disgusting. But i realise that when you are in a land different to your own - you must abide by THEIR laws. i.e in my uni years when i went to Egypt, i had to abide by the country laws. However, isnt Christianity responsible for Guantanamo Bay? holding people behind closed doors without a TRIAL - god knows what going on - some may even be innocent by standers? Now as a Buddhist - i see that everyone views injustice differently. Its sick that this teacher was jailed but hey - you have to respect the laws of the land otherwise people in the UK could be doing all sorts.

FYI Islam is a religion of forgiveness There is noway that this lady should be punished also the lady in saudi arabia should not be punished! In the Muslim countries it's okay to name your teddy Mohamed but not to ridicule The Prophets and Messengers unfortunately because of recent events due to the idiocies of the media like the dutch and their dumb cartoons, people are over reacting all this is in relation to the so called war on terror which the u.s is responsible for, the u.s has made an environment for hatred to bring about a world war as far as the woman who was raped, those men should be whipped and imprisoned for at least10-15 years and also pay money for her suffering although it will never erase what she has gone through! On a side note for the Buddhist Brother don't forget in Soul Korea when the monks were throwing Spears at each other to get control of a temple that was pulling in a couple of million dollars annually! THE CREATOR Allows us to choose between Good and Evil so there it is, you should suspect the words when someone takes them out of context and when someone doesn't fully understand it! To further add It's not the religious people that are the problem it is the rich who pretend to be religious and control religion for their long and short term materialistic goals at the expense of the followers in all religions! Don't listen to those with position instead rely on your communication with your Creator instead remember there are no intermediate rs between you and THE CREATOR ! Not Adam or Eve Not Noah Not Abraham Not Ismael Not Jacob Not Moses Not David and Solomon And Not Buddha Not Mary John or Jesus Or Mohamed Not Nana Bush Or Wasakichuck Peace and Blessing be upon them All and GOD BLESS US ALL TOO EVERYONE!

Yes, when we go to other countries we have to respect their laws! I have NO sympathy with people who complain about being put into prison for smuggling drugs/drinking/etc where the law of the land prohibits it!
I doubt though that this lady knew that allowing the children to call the bear Mohammed would land her into prison - and have some calling for infants to be whipped!!!
Perhaps it should be pointed out clearly to all muslims that our country will not stand by and put up with terrorism, or threatening converts to Christianity with Apostese!!! OOPS I FORGOT WE ALREADY HAVE AND NONE OF THE FANATICS ARE LISTENING!!!
Love in Jesus,
Margi

The thing is, Shari'a law isn't defined by a clear legal code, but on a personal interpretation of the Qu'ran. It never says in the lawbooks there that you can't name a suffed animal Mohammed. That's interpreted from the rule that no images of God or the Prophet are to be made, which is interpreted from the Qu'ranic verse which says that no God can be true.
It's a screwed up system, and it makes following the 'laws of the land' a lot harder.

What is your question? Is it that Christians are responsible for Guantanamo? They are technically Prisoners of War, a war brought on by their nation harboring the mastermind for an attack that took place on US soil. Religion is a factor, but it should not be; the fact that the aggressors were Muslim and used their religion as the rational for their attack is their deal. The Americans merely responded to hostile threats and took revenge on the country that allowed the man responsible safe harbor. The US has a right to defend itself against war actions.

Are you saying you support those that call for her execution since that is the law of the land? Would it have been ok with you for that woman to receive the lashes they were going to give her? Arent we supposed to uphold and encourage basic human rights?

it is sick and I think unfair to blaim christians for an american prison. is it also reasonable for a girl to get 100 lashes after being rapped by a gang of lads . even if they claim that is from teh quran ( god) I still can not believe it iss right.

The parents are to blame for not teaching their children better than to name a teddy bear Muhammed.

when in rome act like the romans.... its youre responsibility to learn the laws of the land no matter where in the world you are. ignorance to a law is no excuse , its your responsibility to learn what local cultures consider legal and illegal, you dont necessarily have to agree but you have to abide by the laws...
