I always thought that when families said grace before eating on the television it was just a ridiculous exaggeration. I was truly shocked when I saw questions regarding grace on this site.

Does anyone actually say grace?

Some people seem offended by my question. I'm just asking if grace is true or is it just made up by tv companies. I've never heard of anyone saying grace in my life.

I do...before every meal. Say what you will, but I am truly thankful to getting a meal set before me. No doubt about it.

Wow, lot's of people do. Others say it silently to themselves and I try to remember to pause before I pick up my utensils if they are doing this - just out of respect. Since saying grace outloud is like group prayer, I am not really into that - I think belief is a personal issue and trying to "sync" with people gets real dicey in a hurry! My husbands family always says grace, but he does not and we don't since we are not about that personally. I do bow my head in a big group grace, but that is as far as I play along - I look around - and I am surprised who else is looking around. We all smile at each other - its a little secret that we share.

Yes, some of us do 'say Grace' before eating. Others say it after eating. Some of us may not seem to be praying, because we pray 'silently' in our heads with no 'gestures' to give us away. I'm a Catholic and I don't 'say Grace' at every meal (I do pray many times every day, however) but I do say Grace at the 'high holy day feasts' ...

Absolutely Yes. Saying grace is one way to deliver thank you to God as our provider in each day. As we could be thankful as we have eaten that day as many other are starving to death for food. On the contrary, it also the belief of the people and their lifestyle. Some are religious so they are following the doctrine of God but some are so be it.I dont know which part you belong so its really up to the persons belief. As everything goes to the believer.

Yes I do when fellowshiping with others. I do not say grace out loud in public places but I do bow my head. Every morning I say my prayers including for all meals of the day.

I do, its almost automatic.
Just like people still pray, people still go to church,as a family.
and you know what will really suprise you there are alot of people who know how to say the Our Father, and Hail Mary prayer, and The Lord Is My Sheppard, and The Apostle's Creed.
I was brought up in the church, I don't consider myself so immaculate, i am human, but one thing i know for sure is how to pray, and i don't mean pray to win the next multimillion.

You also need to thank God, aren't you able to read what i am typing? That right there is a blessing,
i may joke around, but this is for real.

Every meal. We are told in the scriptures to give thanks to the Lord for the many blessings we receive. It should be done with grateful hearts and not done simply to perform a ritual. It is a sign of your gratitude to God, gratitude is something that appears to have gone along the way side. People today just seem to expect and think they are "entitled" to everything. Surprised you would have to ask such a question.
