Nothing. They are a Pagan symbol of fertility and rebirth, and were incorporated into the Christian Easter when the Pagan celebration was assimilated as a Christian holiday. Just like bunnies.

And just like Christmas trees...another Pagan symbol leftover from the ORIGINAL holiday...

They have nothing to do with Jesus. Easter is a made up Holiday used to usurp the pagan Holiday of Ostara. At Ostara the Teutons worshipped their Spring Goddess, Eostre, which is who the Christian Holiday is named after, with rituals and feasts. They celebrated and honored the Virgin Goddess mating with the young God. Sexual relations was an almost obligatory event on the Eve of Ostara. A feast was served that included foods that represent fertility like the egg. Also, there is a story that the lowly Rabbit loved the Goddess Eostre so much he laid eggs, colored and decorated them and gave them to her. She was so impressed and happy at this gift that she told the Rabbit that she wanted him to share that happiness all over the World so, the Rabbit traveled all over the world giving out these brightly colored and decorated gifts of life called the Eostre Egg,
hope that clears things up for you!
Blessings!

no but in order to create a secular version of the story to be force fed to the mases that arose. im told it has some kind of pagan connection but im not suprised nor offended by that (No offense but europe was once a wiccan continent so while the religion changed you cant change the culture and im fine with that i mean just cause some guys sacraficed goats to the sun(i dont know if thats a real ritual i just made it up) on thanksgiving 2000 years ago doesnt mean me and my family cant have a meal that day and say grace before it)
im more ofended by the fact that people feel the need to make up a story when the truth is right there in the bible.

Not a thing.Just like the christmas tree. The egg is a sign of fertility for the goddess of fertility and the tree is a is a belief that the spirit of the dead entered into trees and they were brought into the house and decorated to appease that spirit.

They have to do with rabbits, but the historic myth lost some of its truth long ago, so there are some people that still think the eggs come from rabbits, and there are some that think all eggs have to be painted and boiled and given to their children. Don't ask me dude. There the ones that do this.

well, I agree with all who said here about eggs that are a pagan symbol of fertility, but let me tell you a story from my country > that say that the mother of Christ (Maria) had a basket with eggs with her when Christ was crucified and when she was near him some blood of Jesus Christ reached on those eggs.
I know it's just a story........and sorry for my english.

Same thing aluminum icicles and pine trees have to do with his birth - nothing, really. That's never topped a religion from buying into a connection, or promoting one.

Of course, I could say that both are cracked, but....LOL!

It's because St. Peter was actually a rabbit, hence the name Peter Rabbit.

This sacred secret is guarded by the Hare Club for Men.
