Try a slightly more vibrant, but not overpowering, color, or maybe wallpaper. Here's some links.

I would probably go with a beige or mocha color, unless you are wanting to hide the green tiles, you can add plenty of other accents to your kitchen with your cabinets and towels and other things like that. Too much green in a room is never a good thing.... Especially if you have friends over who like to be noticed.

lavender
caramel
ivory or white
Add a print with beige, green, and wall color you choose for valence/curtains, place mats, etc.

If you have lots of light in the room, I would go with a deeper green on the walls.....especially if the cabinets are a medium to light wood-tone.
