There are similarities between you and me. The stuttering seems to happen most infront of people who's opinion I value (family and friends). It seldom happens infront of strangers.

On the stressful job I was very confident.
But at home, even then, my voice would waver.

Why? I really can't say. It's like driving. I seldom make mistakes when I drive alone, but with certain passengers I am bound to mess-up. Could it be a level of nervousness you and I are unaware of???

I don't know if this has something to do with it, but are you getting out socially? I have noticed among young people that there are lots of issues in the inability to interact. It is my assumption that making the computer your life is problematic because it has no face, isolating, and no verbal interaction.
If you think that is the reason, try to limit your hours on the computer and go places where you can interact, not just at work.

maybe you're overthinking it too much. I get that way when I'm worried about what the other person is thinking about me. If you don't tense up so much and be yourself than things will be a lot easier for you
