That sounds fair, but takes away the appeal. Is that reverse-propaganda?

Apparently, there was some screening done to remove more of the Catholic Church put-down in the Golden Compass. Also, the movie is being used now as a con to purchase the next 2 books which get to the real meat - killing God. I also read that the author from England is an atheist who stated he wants to destroy Christianity and teach children more about atheism. If you heard about the woman missionary-teacher who went to the Islam country to teach children and used the "teddy bear" to represent Allah and how she was immediately thrown into jail for 15 days, weeks or months, it becomes very apparent to me, that there is 0 tolerance when it comes to any straying from their faith and teachings whereas we want to give everyone free reign with our faiths. We have a gift shop in a local hospital that has a Nativity Set using bears for the Holy Family and Wise Men including baby Jesus. Did we speak up? Probably not because we have definitive tolerance. I personally did not see the Nativity Set of bears, but if and when I do, I will make a point of tactfully saying it is not the way our faith and Holy Family is to be portrayed since they were not bears, but real people.....

They also thought that Fred Claus was "An entertaining film, but not as funny as expected," and that Denzel's performance in American Gangster was "A powerful tour de force that should put him in strong contention for another Oscar." I'm not sure why they have that movie review column in their newsletter, but I generally agree with their opinions.

While they do have their low points, the Catholic Church is usually fairly reasonable and doesn't make issues out of nothing.
Except maybe birth control.
In general they do not pass quick judgments based on preconceived notions nor a persecution complex.

Supposedly, the movie has indirect persuasion that there is no God. There were some quotes by the director that also showed his bias of his personal and religious beliefs that he does not believe in God.
Bottom line though, people will see what they want to see and if they choose to watch it or not, that's soley their decision to do so just how any decision occurs.
You either do it or you don't. It's that simple.

People will still say that we are against it because it suits their agenda. Note the person above is still saying "Boycott", people need to learn the difference between what is officially attributed to the church and what are some people's opinions.

That's amazing. There was such a negative reaction when the book came out.
I would add to that, but I think that sums it up pretty well. Opposing a crazy religious organization does not = anti-religion.
Agnostic Front: You're wrong. :) God dies a natural death. And wasn't actually 'God' to begin with.

Maybe they learned their lesson with the DaVinci Code. All throwing a fit does is ensure EVERYONE go and see it. Talk about free publicity.
