Jeff S...a member of the AM said

"while currently our Christian army is occupying two Muslim nations and KILLING <----hmmm. why are they so outraged? i just don't get it."

Talking about the Muslims and the english teacher/bear thing...

So...

I have a question for atheists. If your son or daughter is an atheist and is in the Army, or an atheist friend...or for that matter if you know ANYONE in the US army who is non-Christian....do you think they would be shocked/offended that this person is calling them a member of a Christian army?

I think most Christians in the US military would be offended also. What a revolting suggestion, that the US military is a religious force, and that Chrsitianity or ANY religion can be spread by force.

He's free to say it and if anyone is shocked and/or offended they're free to be that way also. As an atheist none of this bothers me, shocks me, offends me or even interests me because I have no problem with people expressing their opinion.

"why are they so outraged?" Why are who outraged? Muslim nations?

You post this as though somehow atheists should have some particular reaction to it.

I was an atheist in the Army. It wasn't particularly Christian at all.

Man, you are a literalist of the first degree. I find it funny that a lot of the arguments against Atheists involve trying to turn their words against them in some vain attempt to catch them in a trap. But it ends up making you look as though you are completely unable to read between the lines.

My atheist brothers would not consider themselves part of a Christian army...

But they do realize that our President, who commands the army is Fundie.

I'm sure they would be, just as a christian would be if someone called this an Atheistic nation.

They would probably realize that the army is commanded, controlled, funded, supported, protested, moved, housed, fed, clothed, and supplied by a vast majority of Christians.

The Christians started the saying that there are no atheists in foxholes. So then according to you Christians, all military people are Christian anyway. Note sarcasm

I recall the Air Force Academy was caught red-handed a few years ago coercing recruits into joining some fundie outfit.

and commander-in-thief Bush claims god told him to go to war.

So it's not out of line from the sad truth.
