If you have one kind of force, then there would be an equal and opposite force - I would guess that is where the devil came from?
If there is no God (seen God lately? when was the last sighting of God?) - then the devil must not exist also.
Christians seem to blame the devil for everything else.
There may be bad spirits, bad influences in this world, but ultimately everyone is responsible for their own actions, regardless. And so blaming the devil for all the random bad events in the world, is of course - silly.
As you grow older and think more and more (and live longer, gaining life experiences, etc etc) - you will have more of an idea of what exactly do you believe in - instead of simply accepting what you are told.
It is important to own your own beliefs, that way you understand them better. Quoting passages from the Bible is never enough... and I cannot take the Bible seriously anymore. It is only one reference source, there are many others in this world - that are probably more important.

I believe in the devil because I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. I feel that I've seen the devil in the face of my ex husband when he's been drunk, angry, and abusive. I'm sure there are people who believe in God and don't believe in the devil, but I would imagine they are people who have never read the scriptures. I believe that in everyone's heart is a knowledge (or instinct), that they know there is God. I also believe the devil tries to squelch that knowledge and sabotage it as soon as possible. Depending on the circumstances of the person and the people and influences that surround him or her, the knowledge either nurtures into belief, or they become bitter and angry because they are going against what is theirs to have. So they close themselves off and become defensive, even angry, and try to justify their choices. I guess it's the ongoing war between good and evil to put it simply. Try to get an opportunity to hear the song "The Champion" by a Christian singer named Carman. He tells about the Truth in song, and creates a way to envision it as you listen. I hope you do get to hear this one. He has amazing songs, but this one addresses you particular question.

Yes you are an atheist. No you cant believe in God without believing in the devil. If you believe in God then you must believe in his word and in the bible to a certain extent. Since the devil is in the bible and this is the word of God you must believe in the devil as well. you cannot pick and choose what to believe in or your belief is nothing but your own opinion. You know what they say about opinions right? They are like b u t tholes...everybodies got one.

Nobody can be sure.
There are so many relegions out there, that beleive in such completly different things it can become frusterating on what really is out there. Or atleast, to me.
I personaly beleive there is good and bad in us. We create God, who creates Satan.
I will not deny that the Devil exists, because I feel as if that gives the angel some power over me.
Oh and Satan does, but not full control.
I beleive there is a Devil and it's followers.
I beleive there is a God and it's followers.

If you're a Christian, you know the devil exists ... jest as you know that God exists.
Satan (the devil) is held in heaven by Michael, an archangel. Satan's been there since Christ told him “...get thee hence” in the desert (Matthew 4:10). Michael is also keeping satan from taking over heaven by force.
At the 6th seal, 6th trump, 6 viel, Michael will boot satan from heaven to earth (Revelation Chapter 12:6-9). Keep in mind that Revelation is a Prophetic book making the word SAW into the futuristic word "will" fall etc.
Satan’s spirit, just as the Holy Sprit, is here, but De facto he is not.

Well, Icy, I am Christian and I believe in an evil entity, but it's not the image of the "devil" that has been created by man over the centuries. The devil is not red, nor does he have a pointed tail or pitchfork, nor does he reside in a world of flames...as Peter says he "roams the earth" and in the book of Job, Satan himself says he does this also.
The typical version of the "devil" is a fabrication that has gradually been added to and taken away from.
IMO, it is entirely possible that the "devil" is as simple as karma. Evil is created by us in our hearts, and therefore it becomes an entity unto itself. All of us have a conscience of some sort, and have an intrinsic belief that what we do comes back to us. The only question is how long does it take for the "devil" to catch up with us? Many lifetimes, most probably.
Sidenote:
There is a Christian author named Mary K. Baxter who claims that Jesus came to her and took her to both heaven and hell many times over a month long period. The amazing thing about it is...she says she saw Satan, but never describes him. Kinda odd, if you ask me.

Belief in a god doesn't necessarily mean belief in the Christian god...so yes, you can be agnostic but not believe in the devil.
I'm an atheist, so I don't believe in any gods, the devil, or any other such creature.

Of course you can believe in god without the devil.
I don't know of a name for it, but it's not atheist or agnostic.
As for what you are, an atheist is someone who does not believe in god.
An agnostic is someone who doesn't care whether or not god does indeed exist, but if proof arises, he or she will believe.
Pick the one that suits you best.
