Any one have one, or have tried one??

Something like the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50, aside from the auto features that they all seem to have, but also manual control of aperture, shutter, FOCUS, ZOOM, with a hotshoe for flash?? I think there are a couple of other brands that are similiar.

Any critiques or reviews??

Maybe I should clarify....

Advanced digital cameras that are point and shoots, 10+ zoom lens, but not interchangeable lenses.

I'll second the Cannon powershot S5 IS, as I've played with the one my dad has. I was so impressed I almost bought one my self.
12x optical zoom. hot shoe flash mount, and don't forget the IS, really handy when zoomed to 432mm (35mm equivalent).

I would go with a Nikon or Canon if you want professional looking photos. Canon and Nikon have the largest variety of lenses. You also get a faster shutter speed and more manual control. The Canon EOS Camera System is the most complete Single Lens Reflex (SLR) camera system in the world. Whether you are a beginner or advanced professional looking for a digital camera or 35mm film camera, the EOS System takes your photography to the next level.

Right now, I'm looking at a Canon PowerShot Pro Series G5 IS, for myself, but I'm also suggesting it! It's got a lot of features and many great reviews! It's a digital camera but looks like an SLR, and it's the closest you can get to an SLR without actually having one.

Bought my daughter and husband Fuji Finepix s9100 because I couldn't see them worrying about lens changes and sensors. For all intent and purposes, they are almost as good as a DSLR.Main complaint - EV viewer eats batteries quickly. On the good side, the four aa's can be rechargeables.

I think if you want the best you should go with Hasselblaud! They are the best in the business. Pricey but worth it.
