I've heard that there are feeding dishes available for cats that have a timer and a lid or cover. The dish can be set at certain intervals so that the cover opens up at various times of the day allowing your pet to eat whilst you're out or at work. Where can I get one of these dishes or did I dream them up?..... I've tried ebay but had no joy.

If you are looking for a timed feeder, I assume you are feeding the cat dried kibble. This is not a good diet for a cat and buying an automatic feeder only ensures the cat will be left alone for longer periods of time. Canned food is a much better food, but cannot be left out. I would feed canned food when you are home. When at work, leave some dried food out. And if you go away, have someone stop by to feed the cat daily.

Hello, My first thought was why you want to use these types
of feeding dishes for your cat. Cats should have access to their food bowl/dish 24/7. Cats nibble through-out the day. Keeping out a few toys and scratching post for your cat. In general cats are good at keeping their figures. If you feed your cat junk food ( friskies, purina etc.) they are loaded with fillers which will put weight on your cat. Friskies for cats is like mcdonalds for humans. ps An jans carries the timed dish you are looking for

if you are in the uk pets at home or argos do them. i have one and i found that the tinned/pouched meat goes off. if i know i am going to be out for the whole day then i feed their meat before i go and free feed biscuits and put plenty of water down and then feed their other meat potion when i come home and if i am away over night my sister will see to them. i also found that the timers weren't very good.

This answer works if you are in the US. The first link is good for 48 hours. The second link is a variation. The third link is a longer period feeder. The third link feeder can dispense three times in one day. The first link can do two times a day.

I cannot vouch for the third supplier in the link, having no experience with that company.

They're around. A lot of diabetic cat owners use them so the cats can have meals at regular intervals.

I found a whole bunch here --
