yes you must have a router that is connected to your computer via ethernet cable and is also connected to your ps3 via ethernet cable.

if you want to connect it to stream media files you must have windows media player
if you do click on it to open it then click on the drop down menu and go to MEDIA SHARING, allow the device that is there (your ps3) and then it should come up on your ps3, if not try searching for media files.
make sure as you are doing this you have your ps3 on at all times and have media sharing on on your ps3.

need any more help? email me

1). Get a router;
2). Connect your PS3 and PC to the router;
3). Download and install program TVersity - http://tversity.com/home
4). Share needed files;
5). Enjoy! :-)

DSL will not work with the PS3, At least not with online gaming, maybe the browser might. What you need is broadband, and Ideally a router, and run an ethernet cable from it to the PS3. You can also use wireless, it is less stable, but its more convenient.
