I've been making this smoothie for a while now, would like to try something new:

-ice cubes
-frozen strawberries
-frozen pineapple
-banana
-orange juice
-ground flaxseed

It's really good, but I'm afraid it has too much sugar. I make a lot, usually bring a 28 oz bottle full of it to class for breakfast.

What are some other good smoothie ideas that would be more healthy? Please, no yogurt, I like the icy ones over the creamy ones. I was thinking strawberry blueberry banana, strawberry mango banana, blueberry mango banana...would coconut be good to add because I love it but I'm not sure how healthy it is. Any other ideas like the flax seed as an additive would be great too, that stuff is really good for you and it adds a nice, mild nutty flavor to the smoothie.

Whey protein is milk protein, and there's no way I'm adding any soy product to it. If I do add protein I'll have to get a different flavor powder, all I have is chocolate...chocolate whey, dutch chocolate gainer, chocolate casein. I think casein would be better than whey because of its slow absorbing properties, more of a trickle effect for feeding my muscles throughout the day. But like I said, I'd have to buy a fruit flavor because I've tried mixing the chocolate ones in and it just overpowers and ruins the fruit flavor.

if that's going to be your breakfast then you need some protein in there. i would use either a plane whey protein concentrate, soy protein isolates or milk proteins. all can be found at the local health/supplement store or online

Edit:

milk proteins are the combination of whey and caesin. whey is not caesin and caesin is not whey. there is nothing wrong with soy protein isolates, hence the name. soy protein isolates are superior to whey in some categories. the protein has been isolated and all of the photoestrogens have been removed.
