just get it over with and kill ourselves now? You know, since we have no purpose and all

No way, man. I still haven't been to Mardis Gras. Or Europe. Or Africa. And I haven't published my books. I haven't seen Hemingway's house yet, I haven't swum with the dolphins, and I'd like to go skydiving one more time.

My life may be pointless and meaningless according to some, but I still have a heck of a lot left on my "Things to do before I die..." list.

Wow, I have never said that you have to be a Christian to have a purpose in life. In fact, I have said that different people have different paths.
You are generalizing about believers. That's sort of unfair.

I hope you feel better now that you've been sarcastic and vented.

Have a great day. Remember that we are not all alike and that some of us do not feel that way.

Have a good evening.

Purpose requires God. Here is what one noted atheist philosopher had to say about it:

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell

And a life without purpose is a life without worth because our human experience shows us that only those things that have a purpose have worth. Lives that have no worth are in serious trouble according to this atheist philosopher:

"There is only one really serious philosophical question, and that is suicide. Deciding whether or not life is worth living is to answer the fundamental question in philosophy. All other questions follow from that." (Albert Camus, 1942)

All of our invented purposes are pretend-purposes whose sole objective is as a psychological crutch to get us through life without committing suicide.

Purpose in life is certainly not exclusive to Christianity.

Almost all doctrines speak of purpose or destiny.

In Judaism, "All appointments are by God, even that of a janitor."

Christianity, " Shall I not drink from the cup my Father has given me?"

The Roman philosopher Seneca said:
"The willing, Destiny guides them; the unwilling, Destiny drags them".

In Islam, "There is not one of us but has his appointed position, and we are verily ranged in ranks [for service]."

Confucianism, "Mencius said, "Though nothing happens that is not due to destiny, one accepts willingly only what is one's proper destiny. That is why he who
understands destiny does not stand under a wall on the verge of collapse.
He who dies after having done his best in following the Way dies according to his proper destiny. It is never anyone's proper destiny to die in fetters."

African Akan Proverb, "The order that God has arranged, mortal man cannot upset."

I'd say the idea of purpose is well represented in most every culture.

Christians simply make it a part of their purpose to accept Christ based on the faith that doing so will deliver salvation from death as Yeshuah ben Joseph (Jesus) promised.

I would say that God, whom I believe in based on not only faith but direct experience, (long story...actually many of them) has an interest in everyone, Christian or not, and that he has a purpose planned for all of us. I tried most other religions and philosophies for many years before returning to my Christian roots. I found evidence of my purpose regardless of which deity I was paying attention to at the time.

I think an important question to ask you is are you saying without saying that you don't know your purpose and if so, would you seriously consider taking your own life if you didn't find a meaning for your life?

There are ways to discover your purpose.

As a Christian, I'm sure you have just as much purpose in life as anyone else, we just have different interest. I don't care what you or others on your side do on your time, but your side sure seems to be upset with what we give to our churches, and our faith, As well as it seems you expect us to simply lay down who we are if we leave our homes and places of worship, and pretend that we have no right to express our concerns, cares, hopes and wishes out side in public. It seems that many in your group think that 'faith' is a coat that you put on in church and take off in public, you fail to understand it is a way of life, much like a vegetarian does not lay down their 'beliefs' and asks for a stake just because they leave home.

Yeah. What the hell, we clearly have nothing to live for and contribute nothing at all to humanity...
I mean it's not like we can enjoy ourselves, being alive, is it.
