because sometimes, letting go of your own needs to help others IS the help God is offering. in this world of people worrying only about themselves questions like this will be posed over and over i'm sure. they can NOT comprehend how someone could and would give so fully of themselves for someone else. Jesus DID say to God -- (paraphrasing here) i'm really not 100% into what's about to come but i UNDERSTAND it's YOUR will and not mine. Jesus understood the bigger picture - it wasn't "all about him" but rather "all about everyone BUT him"!

You're question indicates that you have little knowledge of Christianity and that is fine. Perhaps you've never read the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John where Jesus' quotes are recorded where Jesus tells us why He came.

First of all, Jesus Christ is God in the flesh and He is described as God the Son.

There is no doubt that Jesus Christ could have gotten Himself off of the cross and He could have destroyed all of His enemies with one word, but.....

The only reason He came was to offer Himself as a perfect sacrifice that could pay our debt of sin that separates us from a relationship with God.

He came to redeem us back to our Heavenly Father! So, if Jesus would have helped himself not die on the cross then we humans would have no hope.

Jesus came to save sinners. To be able to accomplish that required a sacrifice no ordinary human being could ever make.

Jesus was the only qualified to make that sacrifice. Had He done as you suggested, there would be no redemption for us sinners.

He was obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him and given Him a name which is above every name that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow of things in heaven, things on earth, and things under theearth, and evey tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

The crucifixion and the Resurrection is the heart of the Christian Faith. Jesus willfully went to the cross to be crucified because he knew he had to pay the penalty for the sins of mankind. That was the main reason that Jesus was born - to atone for the sins of humanity.

That's the same question that was asked by those responsible for putting Him to death in the first place. Jesus was both God and man (human nature). Jesus, the man, had to suffer and die for the salvation of man. Let thy will be done not mine. And the Bible predicted it as a ransom for our sins.

Um, this is one of the exact reasons people question if he was actually the son of god. You won't get any good answers here because no one knows for sure.

They say, it was meant to be--he came here for the purpose of dying.

I suppose you are Muslim, I suggest you broaden your knowledge about Christianity before throwing basic questions like this.

He could of yes but he didn't because his love for us went beyond his temporary suffering!

Because, according to the bible, that was his purpose i.e. come here, live, be crucified and then resurrected.
