Here's something that shocked me about priests that are educated at the best seminaries. I'm a Muslim but I was still surprised to some extent. Jerald F. Dirks, a United Methodist Church deacon , said that when he went to the Harvard Religious Seminary, they teach you the REAL TRUTH behind the history of christianity. He came to my mosque and basically told us that christianity today is just a politicized version of the truth and that in the beginning they didn't believe in the trinity or the crucifixion, among other things. So he ended up converting to Islam. This is a guy that spent his childhood going to sunday school every sunday and took 7 years of religious study at Harvard. Please take a look at the link below and read all 4 parts of the article. It's long but it is really amazing insight.

No, I wouldn't be concerned at all. It sounds like you priest is interested in learning about Islam, and it's probably just intellectual curiousity on his part. Actually, if I were a religious sort, I would personally be relieved to see that my clergyperson was open minded and interested in learning about other religions.

Just because he was reading the Quran does not mean he will convert. It's interesting to know more about other religions, that's why I grab a Bible every once in a while.

Yes u have to be concerned.
You shud go & ask him what made him do this
Infact u shud critically analyse what's wriiten in it. Try to find answers to the verses in the Qur'an tht u dont feel rit about.
For e.g: There is a verse in the Qur'an tht says to kill all the unbelievers. Now, this sounds harsh doesnt it? Now if u check it out u'll come to know tht this verse was relating to a battle tht took place between the Muslims and the non-muslims(unbelievers).

I'd take it as a good sign. Your priest is being very open minded. More religious leaders should read the holy works of religions other than their own.

Yes, run away as fast as you can! He's about to sprout horns and start strapping nitroglycerin to himself!
Or he could, you know, just be a student of theology. Being a priest. And everything.

You should be THRILLED that he isn't some lock step sycophant!
Bravo to him for studying truth rather than relying on someone else to tell him what he's supposed to think.
I'm not saying the Quar'an is truth - I'm saying that he's the real deal if he's willing to study someone else's views in earnest.

being familiar with other religious texts is a fantastic idea! many christians don't do much with this concept, but i have heard of muslim as well as jewish schools requiring study of the texts of other traditions; it increases understanding of the different faith traditions, and can build your appreciation for your own.

Why should you be concerned about having a minister who actually wants to learn? Id would think youd be more concerned if he didnt want to learn new things.
