Most likely it is due to changes in the ambient lighting and color of the environment: blue skies, blue or green water, clothing. I've always thought that I had green eyes but many years ago, when I registered for the draft, the registrar insisted my eyes were hazel. We compromised, she put "hazel" on my card.

I'm told that my eyes change to different hues of green depending on where I am.

Adult eyes cannot change colour. BUT they can seem a lighter or darker shade if they have a variety of shades in the eye. My Mums eyes always seemed to go greener in summer, light outside is lovely and can contrast with shades on your clothes, lets say. It is just light playing with colours really.

wow that is amazing! See websites below. i always think of eyes like yours as being like "mood" stones or those shimmering pictures that look different in differnt light. i think the amount and type of surrounding light picks up the different colors in your eyes. Just like hair is not all one color..most people have many different shades, the pigments in your eyes are not all identical, and different lighting picks up different colors. so it kinda depends how the light is.

Usually it is what you are wearing or the ambient lighting. Your lens is actually multi colored and the environment will dictate the hue that dominates.
