When you strip away all the bullshit down to rolling gear only, you really only have two choices as far as monotheism goes:

1. Do as you are told, believe what you are told to believe, love me, worship, me, serve me, do my work and bring others to do all of these things, don't ever question me, etc.,

OR:

2. Be sent to a place of unimaginable horror to be tortured and burned for all eternity as punishment for being a bad slave.

-OBEY OR SUFFER.Period.

What kind of a choice is that, really?
Free will.
*****, please.
Your god is a coercive, angry, violent, vindictive, vengeful, cowardly prick.
And you're an ignorant, fearful slave...

After reading some of these responses, I am forced to inquire, do they just not get it?
It's a simple question folks.
You have two choices, obey, or suffer the consequences.
Is there another choice that I'm simply not aware of?
Is there a door number three?
If there is, please, enlighten me.
C'mon, come up with a real answer.
That's what I thought.
You can't.
SHOCKING!!!

All god asks you to do is believe in him. Christians worship him, serve him, do his work, and bring others because they want to. To get into heaven all you have to do is believe.

If you really want to do the right thing, you have no choice. You on the other hand just proved you had free will by writing what you wrote. No one stopped you. Not even Yahoo. Heaven is an unearned gift. It can be offered to anyone at the very last moment of his life, regardless of how sinful a life they lived up that point. All you have to do at that very last second is show your belief in a hell and express a desire not to go there. And that makes God a bad guy?

You are describing Mans opinions not what scripture says.
The Bible Does not Say God Will torture You.
But of coarse this is the same slander of God,perpetrated in Eden, Satan! Nothing New Under the sun.

Free rad; thanks for your agreement; The title’s application to Jehovah God is made obvious at Revelation 19:6 by the use of the expression Hallelujah (Praise Jah, you people!).

I understand why you come to the conclusion that God is angry,violent...etc.. especially with the teaching that he will send people to hell for eternity...

BUT, truth is.. God doesn't send people to Hell.. Hell doesn't exist.. if it did, i'd agree with you 100% that God is violent and such...but since that isn't the case, I only believe that He is a God of love and justice... Just to prove that Hell doesn't exist... check out this simple reasoning...

If God did send bad people to hell.... wouldn't God be friends with Satan? I mean.. He'll be like, "Satan.. heads up.. I'm sending you another one buddy!" lol... Is this the case? Nope. Satan is God's enemy.. so he wouldn't work together with him! Infact, God is going to destroy Satan when the day comes.
---------------------------------------------------
well... for more detailed explanation.. here's alot more proof using the bible..i've answered somewhere else.I know it's ALOT but worth reading if you're interested in learning the truth.

First of all, nothing happens after we die.:
* Psalm 146:4 says: "His spirit goes out, he goes back to his
ground; in that day his thoughts do perish."
* When pronouncing sentence upon Adam, Jehovah stated: "Dust you are and to dust you will return." (Genesis 3:19) Where was Adam before God formed him from the dust of the ground and gave him life? Why, he simply did not exist! When he died, Adam returned to that state of complete absence of life.
* Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10, says: "The dead know nothing . . . In the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom."
so.. if we have NO THOUGHTS, there's NO working, planning, knowledge nor wisdom... basically you don't exist! how is it possible that you are aware that you are suffering in so called hell?
Also the Scriptures also state: "The wages sin pays is death." (Romans 6:23) So..Since the punishment for sin is death.. why should we remain being punished after death if he clearly states that after we die we basically will be free of sin??

Hell's actual meaning is grave not a place of torture or fire:
*Consider Job.. a righteous man Wishing to escape his plight, he pleaded: "Who will grant me this, that thou mayest protect me in hell [Sheol], and hide me till thy wrath pass?" (Job 14:13) How unreasonable to think that Job desired to go to a fiery-hot place for protection! To Job, "hell" was simply the grave, where his suffering would end.

Finally, the bible states that only 144,000 people will enter heaven.. that's quite alarming as that's a very very low amount!
World Population today is 6,499,697,060..and that's just today! What about all the years back and those that died??
Well, these 144,000 that go to heaven are ONLY for chosen ones that will rule with Christ (Revelation 14:1, 3; 20:4-6; Luke 12:32)... and not just for all the people that were good.

For the rest of us.. Bible does promise us to live forever on earth.. so that would be our real final destination after death.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5; John 11:11-13, 25; Acts 24:15; Revelation 21:1-4)
"The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it."—Psalm 37:29
Plus it was His main purpose from the start.. for us to live on earth.. why change it?

You don't know anything about God if you believe what you say in this question.

I suggest you read the Holy Bible and find out for yourself who He really is.

Actually you are wrong.

Stop thinking of heaven like a club. Think of it as an A in a class. You can choose to do somework, attend some classes, and blow the rest off. It is up to you what to do inorder to get the A.

Is LOVE a choice?
Wanting to do God's Will shows respect and love for our Loving Creator.
We all belong to Him, even you, and He Will do to us what we deserve.
May Jehovah rebuke you.

sounds about right. i think that such a scenario would be called "duress" in legal terminology; or perhaps extortion.

oh, and heres a "hallelujah" on your description of the popular western cultures (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) idea of "god".

You're not speaking of monotheism, you're speaking of Christianity.

There is nothing preventing you from inventing your own God to worship.

Well, there's the choice to realize that it is all 100% bullsh*t.

That's the choice i made, and it's going fine.

Mickey P, Islam goes that way too. As does any other monotheistic religion.

aka "Almighty God" Love him or die.
