I'm not saying all religous people are crazy so don't take it that way but some of them sure do some weird things.....
For example when I was in high school on the last day we had our senior trip. For our first stop we went to a magic show. The hypnotist had about 5 volunteers from our class go up on stage and he made them do funny things. This one christian guy in my class totally lost it at that point. He stood up and interrupted the show and start talking in tounges say "don't you try to shush the lord" over and over again. My friend who is mormon was sitting next to me thought the guy speaking in tongue was possesed by the devil. A few other Christians were in total agreement about what the guy speaking in toungues did. One of them said "its about time somebody said something." It was such a bizzare experience and I'll never forget that night. Does anybody else have any strange stories to tell?

Hahahah.....i was just surfing TV channels & .......in god tv..they jumping & shouting "jesus jesus"...the way they were shouting & jumping i couldn't control my laughter..lolz

That one is pretty bizzare...guess it's a good thing you were in high school since something like that could really traumatize a younger kid...
I have seen the snakehandlers in Appalachia...the use venomous snakes as part of their services, and believe that they are protected by their faith from the snakes' poisonous bites. That was kind of an odd experience...
Then there is my husband's nephew who is a bit odd. He and his 4 kids spent several years living in a tipi to gain spiritual awareness...oh yeah, and they think that colonic irrigation can cure any ailment you might have.
Then there was a neighbor we had when I was about 10 years old who told my parents that I had the devil in me because of my red hair....
Yikes...

Personally the oddest religion based decision I have experienced was a friends parents sitting Shiva (sorry if that is not the right word or spelled wrong) because their son married outside their faith. They have missed out on 10 years with their son and knowing 2 grandchildren- still saying he is dead to them. Nutty.

Use hypnosis to have me, first, believe in the Christian God and then have a burning need to convert to Catholic. Strange thing is that, even though I know I was willingly hypnotized, I don't and didn't have any need to resist. Note, I was atheist for almost 60 years!

Well, whenever I see video of those healing meetings, where people are swaying, holding up their arms, and then some phony preacher touches them and they fall backward--that's pretty funny.
I went to high school with a girl who would occasionally start "speaking in tongues." We all just thought she was nuts.

Wait...if you could understand what he was saying then he was not speaking in tongues.
As for a story...
I was at home with a couple of friends when a Jehovah's Witness came to the door. My friend opened it and I asked him to leave my property immediately. He walked into my home! We had to physically remove him.

Flail around on the floor like possessed fish out of water, after a preacher touched them on the head. It was scary and comical all at the same time. I walked out.

My friend's mom was praying to a tree or something... She was a pagan of some sort at the time. The funny thing is now she's a born-again Christian and four months ago she was a bible-bashing atheist.

That is a little extreme. Christians should not have attended the magic show instead of speaking in tongues and making a spectacle out of themselves. I think i would agree with the Mormon. We are not all like that. God bless.
