I donate to a local thrift shop The Robin's Nest -- I love that name! Anyway.....they provide jobs for mentally delayed teens, they have freely donated to people in need and I think their hearts are in the right place......
Also, I donate to our local food bank.....No one in a country as great as ours should ever go hungry!
Peace.

No. But, I buy a lot of the stuff ( cereals and can goods) at the flea markets that was picked up from local churches by people pretending to be needy. It is all a hoax. I also shop at the GW stores and other second hand stores. If I can do it the 'poor' and 'needy' can too. People make a living going from church to church for hand outs. As I said it is all a hoax.
Have you ever wondered why MOST of the 'poor people' living on welfare ARE FAT? They are in government subsidized housing with cable TV, they have better (free) medical than I do and a check every month for doing nothing, food stamp on top of that and then they are in those lines at the churches.
Free new or 'nearly new coat every year and I have been wearing the same coat for five years. Now, mind you, I am fugal ... I live within my means. I raise my own food, do my own butchering and I live well ... And I don't have cable TV. My old clothes are used as rags or animal bedding. And my un-wanted food in also given to the animals. Why would I give to those who have it better than I? It is a scam and people fall for it because it makes them feel good.

Yes, We always go to the police station in our home town and take food to the people that are poor or have had some bad luck. I have heard too many stories about how some people that sign up for help really just want help, but don't need it. They abuse the system. So this Thanksgiving we gave a Turkey and all the fixings to a family that their house had burnt. They were thrilled. They were probably poor in the first place and then lost their home. The children and mother was crying with joy. What a blessing it was to them, and in return, those of us who gave. We will be doing this same sort of gifts for Christmas. We may include some gifts for kids too.

Yes I do, but I no longer donate anything to GW as the last time I did, they put all that I brought into the compactor because they had so much stuff they didn't want to sort it. I tried to tell them it was very good stuff, and it was, but they couldn't understand english, so to the trash it went.

I donate old, but still good, clothing to Goodwill.
But not food, I eat that before it gets old!

No. I feel giving to the needy makes them less likely to try and find jobs.

I always feed the homeless, their are a lot of homeless here in Baltimore, and when I see someone, and they look hungry, or are laying on the sidewalk, I alway go and get some food, and feed them, usually Wendy's. or McDonald's...which ever one is closer.
