Isn't it then logical that if anyone has ever chosen to name a human child (or for that matter, is in fact a human being named) Muhammad, they should also all be shot - as it is surely an insult to a God for such a fallible and flawed creature as any human to be called by His Name? This seems to be the natural extrapolation of the 'reasoning' given by those interviewed over this matter.
Alternatively, if it is OK for a simple, innocent, young boy to be named Muhammad, then it MUST be OK for him to suggest that a child's toy bear should be called by this his own 'human' name...in which case what is the fuss about?
EITHER the name can be used for naming humans, pets, toys or whatever -- OR it is ONLY the preserve of the God-head -- in which case all folks who ever chose to be disparaging to the Lord through deeming it suitable to use His Name in vain to address a mere human MUST also GUILTY of blasphemy. Surely you cannot have it BOTH ways -- can you!

For Muslims who say it is blasphemy to create any image of The Prophet.... the teddy bear was made as a child's toy and called... a teddy bear! It was not created as an image to be worshipped. Giving it a classroom name did not turn it into an image. If it had been named either of the alternative names being considered, Abdullah or Hassan, would that have turned the lump of cloth into an image of Abdullah, or Hassan? Of course not! The children were not being asked to bow down before this now-named toy, or to pray to it!
For as long as baby boys continue to be named Mohammed without that making them objects of worship, the same principle must apply to any object so named. Worship is a conscious act of devotion. It does not automatically happen the second you name a person or an object the same as your revered prophet. Of course, if you call anyone or anything 'God' that is a different matter. There is only One God. On this Christians and Muslims agree. But Christians wonder whether the Muslim prophet is SO revered that he is actually being worshipped. This rumpus shows inordinate sensitivity to an adored human. Perhaps it's time Muslims revisited the subject of polytheism to check if they have not elevated their prophet to demi-god status.

purely yet another occasion of why the international needs to step up and take over in Sudan. the persisted genocide; now this. on an identical time as Canadas troops are busy in Afganistan, and the U. S. is tied up in Iraq, tens of millions of persons are displaced, dying and being killed in Sudan. i'm very lots in want of "stay and enable stay"... we've not any precise to tell different international locations the thank you to stay, and what values to stick to. i think of, notwithstanding, than whilst harmless toddlers are being killed and pushed from their residences, by using the tens of millions, it's time for the international to step up and say we wont stand for it. If the international became into doing what they could desire to be doing, what they have a duty to the voters of Sudan to do, this could by no skill have occurred. issues could have been dealt with as is suited for a faux effect, fairly than a criminal offense, considering is all it is.

1st: Muhammad is just a prophet to Muslims, not a God, lol!
2nd: the whole thing is ridiculous.
3rd: I think Muslims are just angry with the West in general, after Palestine, Iraq & many other occupations & stealing.
now it is completely wrong what is happening in Sudan, but then, how about Iraqi civilians & Palistinians...& ..& ..&
eeeeeeeeh....strawberry fields..

I thoroughly agree, I was about to post the exact question myself. But posed directly to Muslims. As if they concurr with our logic they shouuld sendf messages to the Sudan Muslims telling them what they are doing is wrong.

They want to kill her because she is British and a Christian and has Western customs. They see her as a foreign invader. The whole teddy bear bit is an excuse to punish her, not a reason.

did you actually see the footage of the rioters? they were all laughing and waving machettes, guns and flags at each other.
they are not outraged. they just like the idea of murdering a white woman.
as several of our christian and muslim posters here have reminded us: it is a cultural thing.
