You will recall that Herod Agrippa claimed to be God--He was killed on the spot by worms.

And the church grew as Agrippa had killed James with the sword, too.

Yes, God still enforces His law.

Do you really believe naming a teddy bear would be taking the Lord's name in vain? I don't. But even if it did, man does not have the right to punish for sins. Jesus taught that and fulfilled those old laws. God will do the judging.

God Bless.

Why would naming a teddy bear be taking of the LOrds name in vain? Jesus is a very precious name but naming a teddy bear after him is that in vain? But by actually taking Jesus name in vain the judgement will always be Gods call not mans even tho humans always take it upon theirselves to judge others

Greetings all,

First of all, Ex. 20:7 has nothing to do with Jesus as anything else in the OT does except for prophesies about THEM, mostly false Christs. Naming your teddy bear Jesus is saying "he is who wants to become our salvation" . I doubt a teddy bear could be man's salvation, well I don't know, he would have a better chance saving man than listening to today's generation of vipers in the churches.

As for "the LORD" thy "god", well that is not "Jesus Christ" or "God" so every time man calls on "the LORD" or Jehovah as their "god" believing he is "God" or "Jesus Christ", they take both the name of "the LORD" of the Old Testament or Jehovah and "Jesus Christ", the Lord of the New Testament the "Lamb of God" and His and Our Father "God" in vain. To say "God" damn is to err and an impossible statement, if one were to say "the LORD" damn one best look out because that evil tyrant will be most happy to. To say Jesus is Lord is to err. To say Jesus Christ is the Lord of the New Testament can mean the difference between Eternal Life and eternal darkness. To say Elohim is God and the God and Father of Jesus Christ, the "Lamb of God" and to know Jehovah is the devil is "the fear of the LORD" and Eternal Life.

naming your teddy bear or your son jesus ( pronounced hey sues) is not a worthy of punishment. and it is not takeing the lords name in vain. jesus was and is a common male name in his day and in ours. there was another man named jesus and more than one man named judas, mary was also common. they are just common names. takeing the lords name in vain is more like swearing in his name. please understand different religions will always have a different view/take on things. you know we we all meet up in heaven you will find every nation, every culture, every religion there. because in heaven there is no religion there is no predjudice, or pride, we are cleansed of everything that bogs us down here on earth. and when we meet in heaven we will look each other in the eye and say... why did we waste our time argueing with each other when we could have been loving each other as christ loved us instead.?

How is that using his name in Vain? Children and Adults alike love teddy bears for the comfort they bring them. I think it is an honor to call something you love, even if it is a non-living Teddy Bear, Jesus or whichever person you worship.

That would not be taking the Lords name in vain. Cursing or saying some thing God said is not true is taking his name in vain.
