Treatment for HIV depends on what stage of the infection you are in: early, established, or late (AIDS). This is determined by your CD4+ cell count, the amount of virus in your blood (viral load), and whether you have had certain illnesses that are more common in people who have weakened immune systems.
If you are in the early stages of HIV, you have no symptoms, and your viral load is low, you may not need treatment yet. Your doctor will monitor the progression of the virus and may recommend using a combination of three or more antiretroviral drugs called highly active antiretroviral therapy, or HAART, which may strengthen your immune system and reduce your viral load.
If you are in the established stage of HIV or have AIDS, HAART is usually recommended to manage the progression of the virus.
Successful treatment helps suppress the virus; however, it DOESN"T CURE HIV. It is important to take your drugs exactly as directed by your doctor. When treatment doesn't work, it is often because HIV has become resistant to the drug. This can happen if you don't take your drugs correctly. Ask your doctor if you have questions about your treatment. Your doctor can help you understand HIV and how best to treat it.
Acquired immune deficiency syndrome or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS or Aids) is a collection of symptoms and infections resulting from the specific damage to the immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in humans, and similar viruses in other species (SIV, FIV, etc.). The late stage of the condition leaves individuals susceptible to opportunistic infections and tumors. Although treatments for AIDS and HIV exist to decelerate the virus' progression, there is currently NO known cure.
Majic Johnson is HIV positive; but he is not cured. He doesn't have AIDS because most likely, he had his HIV detected early and treated.
More than half of adults who have HIV will develop AIDS within 12 or 13 years if their HIV infection is not treated. Young children and adults who rapidly progress through the stages of HIV may develop AIDS within about 3 years. When left untreated, AIDS is often fatal within 18 to 24 months after it develops.

The general view of Western medicine is that there is no cure for AIDS. There are treatments that can prolong your life while living with AIDS, but no actual cure to get rid of it.
Alternative medicine practitioners claim a variety of cures and treatments for AIDS, from herbs to vitamins to rituals, but none are approved or proved by the FDA.
There is a clinic in Mexico (The Gerson Institute - linked below) that claims to cure cancer through nutrition. Their method is based on the theory that if your body is running optimally, it will be able to heal itself of just about anything. It's pretty amazing stuff when you read about it! Whether it truly works or not, I don't know...but I assume you could apply the method to an AIDS patient and see what happens.
The power of the placebo effect is very strong, too. So, until it's tested thoroughly, a method claimed to cure is generally not used by "real doctors".
There are probably TONS of clinics like that all over the world claiming all sorts of things, so if one is looking for an alternative to the expensive "cocktail" of prescription drugs, research your alternative treatment and move forward cautiously.
AIDS is more prevalent in Africa (22+ million infected compared to our 1+ million), so they have lots of rumors about cures. Many believe that sex with a virgin will cure them, or green paste w/ bananas will cure them, etc...
Conspiracy theorists believe that the government is withholding the cures for cancer and AIDS because it's big business for the health care industry.
The only thing that will stop AIDS is education and prevention....at least for now.
If I had AIDS, I would give the nutrition clinic thing a try. Who knows who is right. I'd probably try everything out there that sounded at all possible to cure it if I had it.
I heard a rumor that Magic Johnson tests negative for it now. Is it true? If one had the money to search the world and try cures, he'd be a good candidate, right?

I heard da same thing too, i heard that there is a cure but since the treatment brings alot of money to the economy, the governmet does not want anybody to know so they could keep on gettin money for all da people that are infected. I also heard da same thing about cancer, and i even heard that there is a movie about it, a documentary, dat the government prohibited because they didnt want anybody to find out

Yes, there is. They are keeping it quiet for now because they don't want the secret to get out. *rolls eyes*
No. There is no cure. If there were, every TV station, radio station, newpaper, magazine, and website would be going crazy.
