the nephilim where from the angels and the daughters of men
the angles materialized and had relations with women.
this was a perverted thing in Jehovah Gods eyes, just as if humans had relations with beast.
. they may have been the Neanderthal as they possessed superhuman strength , but this is not known for sure (Neph′i·lim) Fellers; Those Who Cause Others to Fall Down. in other words some tough hybrid humans. who liked to harm and bully normal humans.
This is a transliteration of the Hebrew word nephi·lim′, plural in its three occurrences in the Bible. (Ge 6:4; Nu 13:33 [twice]) It evidently stems from the causative form of the Hebrew verb na·phal′ (fall) as found, for example, in 2 Kings 3:19; 19:7.

Hello I just learnt that Nephillim is a cool word for giant.
NIV and modern bibles use it.
Read the verse.
Genesis 6:4
King James Version (KJV)
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
So there were giants before and after the sons of God. There were giants after the flood.
Did Angels materialize themselves and mate with humans? NO!
Angels are not flesh and bone like Jesus says, Spirits are not so.
Can Angels become flesh and bone? not to my knowledge.
Now lets go back and work out who are the sons of God yes Satan was amongst the sons of God in the book of Job. That dopes not mean the Sons of Gods are angels. It means Satan rolled up witht hem for some reason.
Read this verse.
Romans 8:14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Romans 8:13-15 (in Context) Romans 8 (Whole Chapter) Other Translations.

One of the first three. First, some answers above have one of the correct translations of the word - fallen ones. Other Hebrew speakers say bully or tyrant. Regardless, the important point is who were their parents.
The real answer to the question of who they were is that nobody knows for sure. There are 2 schools of thought, based on the description of the parents - the sons of God and the daughters of man.
1. Some think sons of God means fallen angels in human bodies, married to mortal women.
2. Others think sons of God means the line of Seth, using Genesis 4:26 for support: "And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD."
That makes the sons of God the line of Seth, since his line is who began to call on God, and the daughters of man are the line of Cain. These Nephilim then could be well-known people or even heroes, who fell into disgrace, becoming fallen ones.
In my opinion, the second is a better understanding, though I repeat - no one knows who was not there.

The correct answer is "A." In some Biblical translations, the word "Nephilim" has been translated to read "giant," so readers naturally picture huge human beings. But this Hebrew word does not mean "giants;" it actually means "fallen ones." The reason it was translated as "giant" is because in the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Old Testament made around 250 B.C., Jewish scholars translated verse 4 by using the Greek word "gigentes" which means "Titan." (Our English word "giant" comes from this Greek word gigentes.) In Greek mythology, the Titans were part man and part god, because they were born from intermarriage between them. So when the Jewish scholars translated the word "Nephilim" to Greek, they used the Greek word "gigentes" because they recognized this to be a union between angels (sons of God)and humans, which produced a being that was neither angelic nor human. So it's clear that the Jewish scholars clearly understood this to be an intermarriage between angels and human women.
As a result of this intermarriage of angels and women, a new race of beings called the Nephilim -- a race of fallen ones -- came into being. As I wrote above, they were superhuman, but not in size. They had human characteristics but were, at the same time, superhuman.
Interestingly, it is from the events of Genesis 6:1-4 that the source of Greek and Roman mythologies were derived. These mythologies record how gods from Mount Olympus intermarried with human beings on earth and produced children who had superhuman characteristics, who were greater than men but less than the gods. The book of Genesis gives the true history of what really happened, while Greek and Roman mythologies give the corrupted account. In Greek and Roman mythologies the human perspective is given, and what happened is elevated to something special and glorified, but God called it sin.

D.
The word nephilim is from the root nun-peh-lamed, which means to fall. The meaning of the word nephilim, at its simplest interpretation, is the fallen ones or the fallible ones.

B...feller/bully
They got the name because they used their size to bully the other people. They were "fellers" of men because of their violence.
