My cousins and brother has high cholesterol as well. They eat very healthy, but they still have it. One of my cousin jog, hike, Tai Chi, and more, and she eats stream broccoli and boiled chicken 3-4 a week, never eats fast food, read every label before she buy them, yet her cholesterol is still high, but not as high where she needs to take medication. It's in the genes, almost everyone from her side of the family has high choles. I don't know if you can keep it low, but maybe to the where you don't have to be medicated.
It might also have to do with stress, from school, friends(boy/girl), or family. Tried taking fish oil omge-3, it supposed to lower your cholesterol and has many other benefits as well. Olive oil is good also but take it raw, like pour them over salad or whatever. Tried to see what kind of work out improve your health.
I do yoga, Tai Chi, or walking on the trendmills everyday for one hour. It helps in many ways. It's good that you work out and take care of your body. But, do you think maybe you should work out daily? If you do everyday, try not to overdo, your body also need to relax too. Also, try stream veggie, stay away from fatty food, read all the labels before you buy them. Don't worry too much( hint: stress), just learn to eat more healthy and relax your mind. Hope this help

I all so was taking Lipitor for cholesterol, but then my doctor switched me to Caduet. A combination Cholesterol and High Blood Pressure medication, for several years. I have not experienced any more than normal short term memory loss. My long term memory is just find. Now because of financial and no medical I can not afford to take that medication. and still see no change. I have also heard on the news within the last month or so that the cholesterol medications do not give appreciably any major cholesterol lowering capabilities to warrant the taking of these drugs. And it is not a life or death situation. They feel it is just a ruse by the pharmaceutical company's to push these drugs on people in order to make themselves more money. Diet and exercise will do the same thing and better. And you can keep the money in your pocketbook.

Get rid of the fast food, watch saturated fat intake, use olive oil and exercise. Trust me, you don't want to have to take the pills, especially at your young age.
You could try the Omega-e pills, but I don't know how well they work. But they can't hurt.
And don't worry about total cholesterol has much as the LDL, get that under 120 for sure. The HDL can be anything--it's good for you.
