She was not acting normal. Took her to the vet and she said that she has an enlarged heart. On top of that she has pneumonia too. I know enlarged hearts are fatal. I was hoping that maybe since she is young there is a chance for survival. She would have a greater chance if she did not have pneumonia on top of it. Can anyone give some encouraging words?

Oh, I am so sorry. I know what you and your dog are going through. I had 2 dogs with enlarged hearts. There is medication to make them more comfortable and also weight control helps. The heart will continue to grow and eventually, the medications will no longer work and the inevitable will have to be done. Again, I am so sorry.

My parents golden retriever was diagnosed with an enlarged heart when she was about the same age. The vet put her on some meds to control it and she had to go in for EKG's now and then, but overall she is now going on thirteen and has little problems with it. She has lead a very healthly life with years of swimming, fishing, and chasing the snowmobiling. there is hope.

What you should do is get a consult from a Vet Cardiologist ASAP. They would know what the problem is and the options to treat it. Sometimes these conditions are managed quite well with meds and the dog can lead a close to normal life.

omg,i feel sorry for you,i w9sh i could give you some good news, but maybe there will be a glimmer of hope here,if they can lessen the effects of the pnemonia, they could start to help your pup with her heart, give her a kiss and pat on the head for me and give her a lot of TLC.
