Nah. Ancient Persia pales in comparison to the **** we've got going on today.

At least the Persians were an organised army and didn't have cells infiltrating us everywhere we turn. You knew how to fight the Persians. You can't fight Islam on a single battlefield.

Edit: and I think the asker means in the sense that's its a great power that wants control of the world, etc., not the religious side of, so stop going on about how Islam didn't exist back then, etc., we all know.

Yes. I have. Persia was an empire from 550BC-650 AD. No it's not the ancient Islam. It's where modern day Iran, Afghainstan, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Iraq, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are located.

Might I just say that the film had, perhaps, the most glaringly obvious racial undertones I have ever seen in a film, outside of propaganda films?

Anyway, Persia is ancient Iran. You can make whatever connections you like from there, but remember that the movie was based on a comic originally created outside of our little post-9/11 world we live in today...

Persia was a beautiful, propserous, advanced, developed, extremeply sophisticated civilisation. That was BEFORE they betrayed Zoroastrianism for Islam. Now they are paying the price. They have been ever since they became muslim. Since Persians converted they have simply gone down hill and today the Persian civilisation doesn't command a fraction of the respect in the world which it did when it was Zoroastrian.

No. Islam wasn't around until the 7th century CE. The Battle of Thermopylae that was depicted in the movie "300" happened around 480 BCE.

The movie is set in ancient Greece, centuries before Islam was ever thought of.
