Why do you feel the need to tell everyone what your beliefs are? Really, I don't understand that no matter what you believe. Shut up and believe it quietly.

I believe the word you were thinking of when you wrote, "i except other religions, why cant people except mine?" is "respect."

You, like every other Pagan and Wiccan, are the victim of incredibly bad propaganda. This propaganda was started many years ago by the Catholic Church. Pope Innocent Vlll commissioned a work called, "Malleus Maleficarum" (The Hammer of Witches) which was published in 1487. It ushered in the Inquisition which lasted over 200 years.

It is unfortunate that whenever someone says that they are Pagan or Wiccan to an uneducated fundamentalist, their first reaction will be, "You worship the devil!" This is blatantly false and an out and out lie started by the early Christian church. The result being, this evil lie was the foundation and the justification for genocide against our people which caused the deaths of millions of innocent people over the course of that 200 plus years.

Personally, I am astonished that people still hold to this lie and believe that it's true. People continue to turn their minds and hearts against the truth no matter how much evidence to the contrary they are given. With that in mind...

All I can tell you is that you have a very tough road to hoe when it comes to your music teacher and the family of your best friend. You can face it, if you so choose, by offering the truth to them, and by being an example of the happy, loving, environmentally respectful person that you are. You can provide web addresses for them like the ones I've included below, and you can invite them to an open public circle so they can see what and who you are, as well as what you believe. If after this effort they continue to hate you because they refuse are unable to let go of this evil lie, all you can do is let it go and move on with your life in Perfect Love and Perfect Trust.

Blessing be upon you, young person. Go with the Gods.

I was raised Jewish and I learned at a young age that religious minorities are subject to certain stigmas. I learned the theological difference between Christians and Jews and learned to explain this to people gently, in a non-confrontational way. That usually worked, in fact it still does.

Some people, though, just seem to have a lot invested in believing that people who don't believe as they do are evil. There's not much you can do with those people.

When someone says something dumb about Wicca, you should smile and say 'No, Wiccans don't believe that.' If they're interested (and often they will be) you now have a chance to explain why that's wrong and what Wiccans really believe.

Christians believe that each of them is an 'ambassador' for their faith. You are too! Christians say that to endure intolerance and stigma for being Christian is a -privilege-. You should see it that way too.

Unfortunately there are people who would rather believe mean-spirited lies about others than the truth. This shows a low level of spiritual maturity. Jesus taught love and tolerance of 'the other', but you'd never know it from some Christians today.

Blessed be!

I don't know very much about your religion I'm afraid, but I agree with you, that you should be free to believe what you want to believe. Often, especially at school, people will judge you if they don't know enough about your beliefs or don't agree with them & I think it's great you're proud of being Wiccan but sometimes, you jsut have to accept that not everyone is going to see it in the same way as you. If you were strongly offended by your teachers comment or maybe just want to patch it up with your friend's parents perhaps try talking to them about how you feel. The main thing people appear to be finding the problem is the fact that they think or you may be trying to convert others to your way of thinking. Sometimes its best to accept that religion and faith are different for different people & there are always going to be religious differences in the world.

As you've noticed with some other responses there are laws to protect your right to your religious beliefs. You can't make people accept you though. If the teacher is in calling you these names report her/him to the head of your school. Have your parents talk to the school and go on up to the school board if necessary. Look show them who you are by being the best person you can. Your actions will speak louder than words.

Refeather doesn't know anything about Wicca obvisouly saying it's such an old religion. Ignore her.

No matter what religion you are (or even if your atheist) you will be ridiculed for it sometime in your life. That is just the unfortunate way the world is. As a Christian I admit that I would be a little weary of a Wiccan, because I know nothing about it. The media portrays it as a devilish religion. So I think that is probably where allot of people get their bad views of it.

I'm Celtic Wiccan. I have had the same thing from grown adults in my life as an adult. I'm 28 yrs old and still get that kind of garbage.

As far as the teach, i think i would talk to my parents and have them talk with the teacher. What the teach did was uncalled for.

Why do people do this, i dont no, ignorance is my first guess.

Best thing to do is ignore them. they are generally close minded and only want to get your rilled up so you do something they can call as a curse.

And just remember it's not just our religion/faith, there are others faiths that are persacuted on a daily bases.

Redfeather- Please learn your history facts of this faith. It wasn't started till the 19 century. By Alister Crowley. It has nothing to do with the dark ages. And lots more people are doing it then you think. It is one of the most up and coming religions of today!

Be secure in your faith. That's all I can say. Honestly my faith doesn't come up much and I rarely have a reason to even tell people. Every now and then someone comments on my necklace and asks what it is. I answer "Mjolnir, Thor's Hammer" and that the end of it. One in 100 they ask for more info and I give it.
You can't care what other people think of your religion. I know that's easier said then done. In the end, it's for you and you alone. Stand up for your rights, and ask your parents help if you need it. But be ready for a fight.
Reality sucks.

Many "christians" in this country think that labeling and alienating other religions is showing loyalty to their version of G-d.

Jesus said that the Kingdom of G-d is within us. In other words, it starts in our hearts and grows from there to overcome all the ills and shortcomings of men.

One thing is for certain: The Kingdom of G-d will not come to us through persecution.

Keep your head up and your eyes on your prize, whatever that is for you! The road to spiritual understanding is littered with the carcasses of the disillusioned and the hard-hearted. Step over them and keep walking, young friend.

Maybe you should print up some information on Wiccans
because I'm sure a lot of people are misinformed about
what Wiccans are all about. I don't know that much about
it personally but I wouldn't make a judgement about someone
until I had more information. Good luck and I hope you get
to be around your best friend again.

I just read the other replies. lol. You can see who is
misinformed and/or unwilling to change their thoughts
on the subject.

Don't take them wrong. Many people judge that which they know nothing about. At least you know better.

Be yourself, and people will see that you are just a normal person like everyone else. Sooner or later they will accept you. And those who don't, will miss the chance of having a great friend.
