in tv terms there are "flat screens" and " flat panels", the flat screen just means the screen is flat not the whole tv itself, compared to the tube tvs that have the curved screens. flat panel means the whole tv is flat or thin and can me mounted on the wall for instance. when people(from my experience) usually say "flat tv" or even "flat screen" they usually mean "flat panel" but dont know enough to call it by the term. when you hear lcd that typically means a lcd flat panel tv. although there are lcd rear projection tv as well. which have deeper backs and are not "flat panel". i hoped i helped, good luck

A regular "flat screen" used to still have a projection device in the back of the TV. They are a lot deeper than the LCD flat screen TVs which do not need rear-projection. They are pretty thin, but if LCD screens get damaged, you have to replace the whole TV. In recent years, the DLP flat TVs are as thin as LCD but are still rear-projection and super high-def at the same time.

I presume "b?w" was some strange shorthand for "between" ("black-and-white" doesn't seem to make sense in this context, and I can't imagine what else it might mean; in the future, spell it out, okay? You had plenty of space left in the question, and LOTS of space in the details!).
Regardless, the question is invalid for the following reasons:
A "flat" TV could refer to any monitor using LCD, LED, plasma, etc, technology, so, in that regard, there is no comparison, because you're asking a generic question (i.e., you might as well have asked, "why is the Earth round?").
An "LCD" (Liquid Crystal Display) TV is one that, typically, is "flat", so, there is no difference between them, at least as far as your question is written.
So, you need to add a detail explaining what you really meant, and, in the future, think about what your question, carefully, before submitting it, okay?

A flat TV has a flat screen instead of a curved screen. You can have different types of flat screens. LCD, Plasma, DLP, etc. If you want to get more information on TV especially HDTVs you should get HDTV Simplified. It explains everything about HDTVs. You can get it at http://www.HDTV-Simplified.com .
Good Luck and Merry Christmas

liquid crystal demonstrate is extra solid with an prolonged demonstrate screen lifestyles, Plasma has extra danger of having the demonstrate screen burn in with the aid of a non changing photograph if left unattended for extra beneficial than quarter-hour and likewise has the potential for getting broken with the aid of gasoline leakage. between the two Plasma has the extra beneficial photograph, yet for my area i might circulate with a liquid crystal demonstrate television.....
