Here I go to the party with this girl I know about 4 weeks. She is a virgo. Would it be nice to buy her a virgo sign necklace or what? What do u suggest if not necklace?

OK the necklace is a good idea but skip the astrological stuff - too shallow - like those lounge-lizards we laugh at in bars and night-clubs. That doesn't sound like you at all.
You sound like you have a lot more class than that.
I assume you like her and maybe want to continue to see her after New Years - so again, the necklace is nice - how about an engraved locket or heart with a single diamond set into it? Or a piece of antique jewelry. See, lockets mean "think of me." and hearts men "i cherish you" and antique jewelry means "I'm an old-fashioned steady guy..."
Or maybe her favorite perfume - because you love the way it reminds you of her whenever you sense its fragrance.
Or a cashmere wrap - warm and luxurious - like the way candle light makes her eyes glow.
What you want to do is show her that you like her enough to spend some $$ on her - but you're also kind of an old-fashioned guy. You know - steady and genuine.

Why don't you DO something special instead. Special dinner (maybe a picnic), fireworks, carriage ride, hotel room with wine etc.
Make it a special night instead of something materialstic. Anyone can GIVE something but it takes someone special to MAKE something, something she'll remember for a long long long long long time.
OF COURSE - you could get her the virgo necklace (maybe w/ her birthstone in it somewhere) and give it TO her on that special night.

You probably don't want to give her a necklace in general unless you have been going for a while, because otherwise she might think you are trying to buy her affection or manipulate her. Your best bet for a present is a card with some personal jokes, girls like sentimental items that remind them of the emotions you have with them, much more than physical items.

I don't think gifts for New Year are expected.
But if you must get her something go simple like flowers or a 2008 teddy bear.

New Years gift? what about christmas? i dont expect new years gifts... does she? kiss her at midnight that should be good enough, or bet get a rose from 711 lol
